PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by Lawrence-R.-Hudson--Fatherhonda (Sep, 2012)We share photos mostly by email and on sites like Facebook using around 1 megapixel, and you can print a good 4x6 photo with around 1.5 megapixels.
PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by Lawrence-R.-Hudson--Fatherhonda (Sep, 2012)At 8 megapixels the 110 HS performs remarkably well.
sensor size
PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by M.-Kato--MK (Jun, 2012)If images with lower noise are desired, there are other camera models around this price range and size that should be considered and, of course, there are more expensive cameras with bigger sensors that will provide images with lower noise.
PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by SAMFUND (Nov, 2012)Grainy starting at moderate ISO - I understand the sensor size is small, but as I wrote before A570 IS was not that grainy - And ideally this should be better because this has a CMOS sensor.
wide angle lens
aperture size
PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by c|net (Mar, 2012)The 110 HS has a fairly large assortment of shooting options, but almost all of them are automatic modes, meaning there's no full control over shutter speed and aperture.
PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by Stepper (Jun, 2012)I chose the Elph 110 HS because it had the widest aperture of all the offerings (f2.7) & was the most pocketable.

PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by Mary-Houston--extraordimary (Aug, 2012)The quality of the pictures are superb, and the 5x optical zoom is great for getting clear shots of subjects that are further away.

Performance Real world tests of Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS
shutter lag
PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by wlee (Jun, 2012)Shutter lags a bit (extra 3 to 5 seconds or so and that is a bit long) to use flash back to back, and 2) the price at $229 is a bit steep compared to other competitor models (<$200) but I am happy with the extra I paid for the wide angle and Canon built quality.
PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by c|net (Mar, 2012)It has low shutter lag at 0.3 second in good lighting and 0.6 second in dimmer conditions.

PowerShot IXUS 125 HS by M.-Cappello--Licensed-Agent (Apr, 2013)Pros: small and lightweight... carried in my pocket for 2 weeks, takes amazing photos and quick too, decent zoom, around 3 days battery life with usage everyday, auto setting is pretty good.
max continuous shooting

Sensor
Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS | Rated 80% by by Dave (Apr, 2012)Sharpness is very good at ISO 100, pretty good at ISO 200.
Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS | Rated 60% by by M.-Kato--MK (Jun, 2012)Its lens is sharp, but Canon's decision to cram 16 megapixels onto a tiny sensor results in noisy images at higher ISO settings.
Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS | Rated 60% by by M.-Kato--MK (Jun, 2012)At ISO 800 it's bad, and at ISO 1600 it's pretty terrible-any semblance of texture is gone from your photo by that point.
Image quality
Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS | Rated 40% by by K.-SMITH (Feb, 2013)You can have all the lights on or all the curtains open and have some beautiful natural light, but to this camera it may as well be night time.
Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS | Rated 80% by by Michael-L.-Burwell (Aug, 2012)me, image quality is the main factor I consider when shopping for a camera in my price range.
Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS | Rated 60% by by M.-Kato--MK (Jun, 2012)It does have fewer megapixels and its lens doesn't provide the extra-wide 24mm field of view of the 110 HS, but when you consider the noise reduction that the 110 HS requires to shoot images at ISO 800 and above, you really aren't losing much in terms of image quality when shooting in anything but bright light.

Canon PowerShot IXUS 125 HS | Rated 40% by by I-LOVE-AMAZON (Sep, 2012)The video indoor recording is great when you're zoomed out, but zooming it the exposure is having difficulty lighting up subjects so you go from bright to dim as you zoom up close.
