It has fair but paltry 720p video capability where the iPhone 4S has 1080 and quite good.

It can focus as close as 4 inches from a subject, but the 16-megapixel resolution will let you enlarge for a closer look.
Coolpix S6200 by c|net (Dec, 2011)
The S6200's 16-megapixel resolution means little in terms of quality.

It'll handle shutter speed and aperture settings, but you can also adjust things like ISO and white balance as well as film colors like Vivid, Sepia, and Cyanotype.
Coolpix S6200 by c|net (Dec, 2011)
The Nikon S6200 has a Night Landscape mode that increases the ISO to produce sharper results, although at the expense of greater noise.

The super-slim S6200 gets a longer, more versatile 10x lens for 2011, which captures everything from wide-angle landscapes to close-up and personal candid shots, all without making the overall camera too much bigger or heavier.
Coolpix S6200 by Photography Blog (Nov, 2011)
The lens has a fairly fast maximum aperture of f/3.2 at the wide-angle end but a rather slow f/5.8 at full telephoto.

The Nikon Coolpix S6200 is a solid if slightly unexciting travel-zoom compact camera that offers enough features and image quality to satisfy the point-and-shoot user without breaking the bank.
Coolpix S6200 by Photography Blog (Nov, 2011)
The optical zoom on the Nikon is very good (much better than the my Canon), and I like to use a lot of optical zoom (avoiding digital zoom).

The zoom works well and I was amazed at the way I could include a large area and group in one scene and it still have such good detail quality.

Overall, I love the compact size of the camera, and the quality of the pictures, and am sure I will love it even more as I learn how to use it better.

The one downfall on the item is the battery life.

max continuous shooting

Key features of the S6200 include a 16 CCD sensor, 2.7 inch LCD screen, 720p high-definition movies with stereo sound, lens-shift vibration reduction, a range of special effects, 1.2fps burst mode, and advanced Night Landscape and Portrait modes.
Coolpix S6200 by Photography Blog (Nov, 2011)
Stand-out features are few and far between, with the 2.7 inch screen, 720p movies, 1.2fps burst shooting and a range of special effects all being effective but rather run-of-the-mill for this class of camera.

If you need a simple pocket camera with a wide, long lens for casual snapshots of still subjects in good lighting, the Nikon Coolpix S6200 is an option.

It is definitely easy to use and the menus feel very intuitive to me.

I seem to like the photo quality so far and I love the color select filter....leaving out all the colors except the one you want.

I just want a great photo (in both bright and dim light), with basic features to help me get that shot (not the kitchen sink), which are accessible and easy to use, such as force flash on or off, zoom.

Since i like to take far views, the Nikon optical zoom worked great for me.

The Nikon Coolpix S6200's 10x zoom lens offers a very versatile focal range, as demonstrated by the examples below.

I mean it takes SUPER crisp pictures as it should with a 16MP lens... when it has the right lighting.

Zoom

At 25.4mm thick the S6200 is pretty slim for a camera with a 10x zoom lens, but note that the camera does measure over 60mm deep when the zoom is fully extended.
Nikon Coolpix S6200 | Rated 80% by by Photography Blog (Nov, 2011)
If you zoom in (which the zoom is good), the pictures are ALL blurry.

I'm not even an intermediate photographer, so I can't speak to image quality (they look pretty good to me, for the most part), but just TAKING the picture is a problem.

Photography

For most purposes (mine are taking family photos indoors or on-the-go) this camera works perfectly well and I'm very happy with the purchase.

16M photo size: When using this size, the write speed to the card is horrendous, almost unusable for some of us (even with top of the line sd cards), my recommendation, use the 12M setting, the size is big enough for big prints and you get good write speeds.

I'm not really sure what the intent of sports mode is, if not to "freeze" motion in a picture.
