Other than this idiosyncracy, the TZ10's GPS receiver works a lot better than precious GPS-capable cameras that we've reviewed, saving accurate positioning information for most of the images that we shot in built-up central London, making this camera much more useful for urban photographers.

The first thing I did was to power up, set the camera to iA (intelligent Automatic mode) and shoot a picture of my coffee cup at 10 megapixel 16x9 format.
Lumix DMC-TZ10 by Kenneth-R.-Niebling--niebling (Oct, 2010)
The TZ10 actually has a 14 megapixel sensor, but only uses 12 megapixels so that it can offer three different aspect ratios - 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 - without having to change the angle of view.

So I'm beginning to look at this camera as a learning tool for my next camera which might be a four thirds format Panasonic, like the G2, or a full fledged DSLR.
Lumix DMC-TZ10 by Edward-Hirsch--Big-Ed
Picture quality is much worse then i anticipated :( i guess it's all about the sensor size and pixel density).

wide angle lens

Pros: This camera has tons of features, starting with a great wide-angle (which has really impressed me with its ability to get so much into the frame; I find myself not needing to back up at all), to a strong zoom, which gets in plenty close.
Lumix DMC-TZ10 by Douglas-A.-Hughey (Aug, 2010)
The wide angle on the ZS7 is very helpful when shooting indoors or in tight spaces as you can fit more into the photo than you can with a non-wide angle camera.

I can fit the Panasonic in my pants pocket and use any of the automatic settings (intelligent auto, sports mode, candlelight, etc.) but if I have the time, I can choose to manually focus, increasing f-stop and shutter speed.
Lumix DMC-TZ10 by LookRich (Nov, 2011)
The new camera has such a luxury as the Aperture, Shutter speed, and Manual modes and there is a new Exposure button (next to the video one) which allows to set manually the aperture using the Left-Right buttons and the shutter speed with Up-Down buttons.

This Panasonic has great selling points (over and beyond Nikon S8100): 1) awesome Leica lens, 2) fast and superb focus at any zoom, 3) aggressive use of flash, 4) great (hand) ergonomics.
Lumix DMC-TZ10 by Robert-S.
The 12x zoom, optical image stabilisation, HD video and excellent low light performance are the main benefits, and manual exposure is a nice bonus.

All in all this a great compact camera that takes the sharpest pictures I've seen at this size and price.

shutter lag

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10

PERFORMANCE: The new camera has a pretty good performance: the startup time is a little bit more than 1 sec and with almost zero shutter lag.
Lumix DMC-TZ10 by Photo-Am--Vlad (Mar, 2010)
The response time is fast for a point and shoot (not like my SLR but much better then the point and shoots my friends own that I have tried out).

Your subjects will be about 10X more tolerant of your "burst" picture taking without the noise.
Lumix DMC-TZ10 by billwilloughby (Oct, 2010)
Photo lag is practically nonexistent (and it has a burst mode if you really need several pictures taken per second).

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 is very similar to its cheaper sibling, the DMC-TZ8, in terms of its design, with the most notable differences being the addition of GPS, stereo sound, a one-touch movie record button and a bigger and higher-resolution LCD screen.

Its weight and size are approximately the same, remaining remarkably compact for its features and wide-angle lens with 12x zoom.

The lens is nice and sharp, but it does produce a little barrel distortion at wide angle.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 is an incredible compact camera with a great set of features and build quality that the competitors simply do not offer.

The big bright screen is wonderful.

Probably the best attribute I have seen on the camera is the zoom, it really zooms well and the pictures come out clear and focused.

Lens

The 12x zoom lens obviously makes this one of the most versatile compacts in terms of focal range, especially as it is coupled with Panasonic's excellent POWER O.I.S system, which helps to ensure that the majority of photos taken in good light are sharp.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 90% by by Photography Blog (Mar, 2010)
The zoom is also phenomenal for the size of the camera and the wide angle sucks in vastly more picture than any other point-and-shoot that I have had before.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 80% by by Paul-Tinsley--Tinz
The long range zoom is a great marketing device but picture quality goes down significantly when zooming even half of this camera's range.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 60% by by W.-Webb--WillNYC31 (May, 2011)

Zoom

As with the previous ZS series, the zoom and overall pic quality for a point and shoot are outstanding.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 100% by by Ray-T (May, 2010)
It does work quite well, and Panasonic has sensibly limited it to 1.3x zoom in still shooting mode, but it is still digital zoom, and cannot magically create extra detail in zoomed images.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 90% by by TrustedReviews (May, 2011)
The F300EXR has slightly longer zoom (15x versus 12x) but given the choice, I'll take the better image quality over that extra zoom length.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 80% by by R.-Guilmette--ronbaby

Image quality

New "Intelligent Resolution" feature greatly improves the image quality.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 100% by by Photo-Am--Vlad (Mar, 2010)
Simply mount the camera on a tripod in a dark room or outside at night, choose starry night, and the result is an impressively lit image with minimal noise- the images look almost surreal.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 80% by by Douglas-A.-Hughey (Aug, 2010)
I basically wanted a camera that is small but still offered the megazoom feature and good image quality.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 60% by by Brad-F.-Cooper (Jan, 2011)

GPS

If you don't want a GPS, you can get far better picture quality on a Cannon point and shoot for about half the price so I wouldn't bother with this camera if you don't want the GPS.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 60% by by W.-Webb--WillNYC31 (May, 2011)
I took some truly stunning pictures, without a great deal of effort or experience (the GPS came in handy when I was traveling too).
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 100% by by Stephanie-Rennells (Mar, 2012)
What really strikes me is the technical accuracy and clearness of the shots, which would make this camera excellent for scientific and technical work, and the GPS is a major bonus there.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 100% by by Thomas-V-Ives (Nov, 2010)

Video

Photo quality is excellent as is the video (better than the video from my Kodak Zi8).
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 | Rated 100% by by Bob-R.
Small enough to go in a purse but very good quality if you don't want to take along the DSLR.
