Sony NEX-5R

This camera has worked good with the kit lens but I've come to realize that I still need a faster lens to shoot at a fast enough shutter speed to really get some decent pictures.

Nice camera, but all other stores give the 16mm lens free ( 16mm f/2.8 Wide-Angle LensModel Number: SEL16F28) for buying this camera for same price, the 16mm lens is worth $248.

And probably with a high quality lense will shoot pictures that look like a $3,000 DSLR.

Focus speed improved, even with CDAF, the new focus algorithms in those 3rd generation NEX makes them hunts less and more intelligent.

Here you have quick access to six shooting parameters which by default are AF/MF select, AF mode, AF Area Mode, White Balance, Metering mode and Picture Effect.

Sony is the fourth manufacturer (following Fujifilm, Nikon and Canon) to go down this route, with the potential of faster focus, improved continuous focus performance and better autofocus in movie shooting.

While the touchscreen interface feels almost entirely natural, especially with the addition of the touch shutter function, it is still entirely possible to use the camera fully via the external controls, so much so that you may not realise that the NEX-5R can be controlled via the tilting screen at all.

High-definition (640x480) quality LCD with fast refresh rate and wide view angle, color reproduction is very good and accurate.

Featuring a 16.1 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, Fast Hybrid phase- and contrast-detect autofocus system, 49-segment exposure meter and 3-inch, 180° tilting LCD panel with 921,000-dot resolution, the NEX-5R also offers a touch-screen interface with a touch shutter function, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and PlayMemories Camera Apps, an ISO range of 100-25600 and both a mechanical and electronic shutter.

I have to say I was not very impressed with Sony's implementation of WiFi functionality, here's all that you can do with the WiFi on the camera.

Love the WiFi hookup to my android phone, I've been asked by a lot of people to take a picture and email it to them at games or just because they can't get a good enough picture with their phone.

The other big advance on the 5R is the addition of DNLA-compliant Wi-Fi and on-camera apps.

With a 16 megapixel APS HD CMOS sensor, 1080p HD movies, high-res 3 inch tilting screen and external flash, the Sony NEX-5R also features a touchscreen user interface, fast hybrid auto-focus, built-in wi-fi and downloadable PlayMemories Camera Apps.

Sony has also included High Definition video shooting at Full HD 1080p at 60fps with stereo sound with the welcome ability to control shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation during recording.

And... a combination of both HD video and HD still photography is the very thing that's being advertised here, which means: yes, manufacturers are indeed selling both HD video and HD still photography in the same compact camera, and that's why we're all here.
