While these features may sound familiar to owners of recent-model mirrorless cameras, its worth noting that EOD 650D is the first 35mm style DSLR to offer touchscreen control.

The chromatic aberration correction does a pretty good job - removing colored fringing without substantial impairment of the image quality.

To be honest, super megapixel just hasn't been enough to prompt me to buy anything new.

18 megapixel (The 18 megapixel 60D is an amazing camera; I'm still discovering the differences), some of which are listed below.
EOS 60D by Tooncesmom

sensor size

Canon Rebel T4i
Canon EOS 60D
When its APS-C sensor is combined with a reasonably fast lens, the EOS 650D offers the opportunity for creative use of shallow depth of field, something that will be a revelation to anyone used to shooting video with their smartphone or compact camera.
Rebel T4i by DPReview (Aug, 2012)
With an APS-C sensor the 60D can't produce the very shallow depth-of-field footage that the 5D Mark II offers but still gives much more control in this respect than most movie cameras on the market.
EOS 60D by DPReview (Nov, 2010)

viewfinder size

Canon Rebel T4i
Canon EOS 60D
The camera overall is pretty responsive if you only use the view finder.
Rebel T4i by Richard-Lin (Feb, 2013)
It gains the same wider exposure scale as the viewfinder, as well as a 6-level battery indicator plus manual focus and IR remote release icons, but loses file size / quality and white balance indicators (although oddly there's a vestigial white balance fine adjust reminder).
EOS 60D by DPReview (Nov, 2010)

body size

133 x 100 x 79 mm
145 x 106 x 79 mm
I have completely changed my mind, it will be worth carrying around a little extra weight on vacataions, etc. because of the quality difference.
Rebel T4i by Melanie-P. (Mar, 2013)
The light weight is also a plus for some one that wants a light but strong body for field work or for dragging into the back country where weight counts.

Whereas the 600D offered only one cross-type AF sensor in the centre of the viewfinder, all nine AF points of the 650D are of the cross-type variety.
Rebel T4i by TrustedReviews (Jul, 2012)
Taking self-portraits (with the gf) using the swivel screen takes the guesswork out and was enjoyable, since the optional contrast-detect was much faster than phase-detect (plus it chooses the focus points for you).

Performance Real world tests of Canon Rebel T4i vs EOS 60D

DxOMark image quality

Canon Rebel T4i
Canon EOS 60D
As with previous entry and mid-range Canon DSLRs before it, the 650D's video image quality is quite good with pleasing colors and contrast.
Rebel T4i by DPReview (Aug, 2012)
With being used to a point and shoot this is like night and day and I'm sure there is many things I can do better or different but for a picture lover this is a awesome camera and would recommend the camera and purchasing it from Sunset Electronics.

DxOMark low light performance

Canon Rebel T4i
Canon EOS 60D
I have also been very pleased with the quality of shooting in low light conditions.
Rebel T4i by Martin (Oct, 2012)
Sure some lenses focus faster or are better in low light but most of us can just hold down the shutter and use a flash.

shutter lag

0 ms
253 ms

269 ms

The Canon EOS 650D's maximum shutter speed is 30 seconds and there's a Bulb mode for even longer exposures, which is excellent news if you're seriously interested in night photography.
Rebel T4i by Photography Blog (Sep, 2012)
It focuses fast, and I love having little to no shutter lag like you get with your average point-and-shoot camera.
EOS 60D by Cece--Not-So-Usual (May, 2012)

continuous shooting

5.3 fps
I would love for example change the burst rate, i.e. shoot in burst mode but with longer period.
Rebel T4i by Art (Feb, 2013)
The faster continuous burst rate of 5.3 vs 3.7 fps is noticeable, but the main difference is that the buffer size for the 60D is much bigger than the T2i to increase your chances of getting that perfect shot.
EOS 60D by powerop (Jul, 2011)

What this means in practical terms is that despite the compositional benefits of using live view and the 650D's well-designed touchscreeen controls, shooting through the viewfinder remains the preferable option when trying to use autofocus to catch that 'decisive moment.

In general the handling of the 60D was a pretty positive experience - it has a larger grip than the Rebel/XXOD series, making it fit more comfortably in the hand for long periods of shooting.
Rated 90%
Read the review (Sep, 2012)
In particular we appreciated the new touch-screen interface, faster burst mode, expanded ISO range and the ability to continuously auto-focus during movie recording, although the innovative Hybrid AF system still doesn't solve the camera's sluggish Live View auto-focusing, something that Sony's SLT range in particular has already overcome.

Read the review (Oct, 2010)
We'd still recommend paying the extra cash, though, principally for the 60D's excellent vari-angle screen, better viewfinder, secondary LCD screen and control dial, speedier burst shooting, more refined movie mode, and much more intuitive control layout and handling.

Read the review (Oct, 2012)
The control layout on the back remains essentially unchanged, but Canon tweaked the design on the menu and info buttons for the better; they're slighly easier to feel now.

I was excited about the new STM lenses, because I have seen many examples of how loud a lens is on video.

You are still able to zoom in and essentially magnify a selected area but when you begin your recording the cropped or zoomed area goes away and your standard focal length will be recorded.

I love that about this camera - it gives me room to grow my lens collection which is what truly makes a huge difference in the quality of your images.

This is a great camera, so far no problems, the images look great (works well with my 'L' lenses), isn't that what its all about in the end.

That said, the new sensor and expensive STM lens that you have to pair with it to take advantage of improved Live View autofocus really serve to bring the T4i into parity with newer technology, such as Sony's fixed-mirror SLT system and mirrorless ILC alternatives.
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 78% by by c|net (Oct, 2012)
I have to admit: shooting Live View and video with the T4i is a joy compared with most dSLRs -but only with the STM lens - because the contrast AF snaps in relatively quickly, decisively, and quietly when shooting.
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 78% by by c|net (Oct, 2012)
I picked the T4i over the T3i due to the amazing and useful touchscreen, STM lens for silent focusing and IS to shoot video with , and for the new upgraded autofocus.
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 100% by by David-Chan (Sep, 2012)

autofocus

Enter the T4i with all of my complaints answered I bought everything back that I had sold . . . The 18-35 STM and 40mm STM lenses are great for video and general walk-around use plus I went for the 55-250 IS lens (I also had before) $150 discount deal available at time of purchase and bought another 10-22 USM to replace the one I sold . . . Auto focus video is a little slow but once you get used to shooting it is very workable . . . Unsatisfactory focus times easily edited around in iMovie or similar, etc..
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 100% by by Luke-Wood (Jan, 2013)
The autofocus on the t4i is actually pretty good.
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 100% by by alex-smith--alex-sally
Autofocus performance has seen a fairly major improvement too, with the While other changes are more incremental they do make the EOS 650D a more enjoyable camera to use than its predecessor.

The video capabilities of the T4i seem to be adequate enough to handle our video needs, while having a camera that is excellent for still photos.

With it's 5.3 fps burst mode, great low light performance, quick autofocus, myriad video framerates, and articulating screen, the Canon 60D easily exceeds our needs and motivates me to take more pictures and improve my photography technique(s).

The T4i simply isn't a sports camera in raw unless you're judicious with your bursts.
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 80% by by D.-Alexander
For a nonmoving subject but with center-point AF active, the T4i clocks about 5.4fps on average for JPEGs and 5fps for raw (once you've exceeded the 6-frame buffer limitation for raw).
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 78% by by c|net (Oct, 2012)
In addition the T4i has an ISO up to 12800 (expandable to 25600 in H mode) vs only 6400 on the T3i.

* The T4i camera body: a fantastic camera, yet some of the technology (like the touch screen) is new, and therefore isn't necessarily the most intuitive, eg turning into video mode is easy, starting the video recording is a special button, not the shutter release which i've used on other cameras.
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 100% by by Jeff-Rayner (Nov, 2012)
In use, the big practical benefit of the 650D’s touch-screen is that it allows you to pinpoint where you want to focus simply by touching that part of the screen.
Canon Rebel T4i | Rated 80% by by TrustedReviews (Jul, 2012)
I have a rebel XSI and a 7D and let me tell you that I am now ruined by the T4I's flip out articulating touch screen and has become my "Go to" camera for any different composure shots and of course video!
