All shooting conditions being equal, I would prefer to have a 5 megapixel image from my Lumix rather than a 10 megapixel image from the Fuji FinePix.

Remember: megapixels don't mean squat if you don't have a decent lens, auto-focus system, processor, memory card, etc..

Must say the lens is very sharp.

From a water proof perspective, it worked flawlessly, and we have both photos and video from under water on our vacation.

Regardless, it had the zoom that worked perfectly.

There's some minor barrel distortion at the wide end, but otherwise, given its protective glass, the lens is reasonably sharp at the center and consistent edge to edge.

Since I was snorkeling and floating on top of the water bobbing up and down, fighting against the current and using mostly the zoom feature my expectation was a lot of blurred pictures.

Figured I'd take a chance on this camera, I do a good bit of kayaking and was hoping I might get a decent waterproof with abit of optical zoom.

The tiny size and lightweightness of the Fuji Z33 WP are perfect for pocket portability.

However, as a secondary camera for those times when you need a pocket camera that can get wet, dusty, or cold, or might need to survive a drop, it's an OK option.
