Rated 83% by by David-Pierce (Dec, 2011)There’s a whole lot of good stuff inside the X10, but you won’t get to make use of it for very long — its battery life is really, really bad.
Rated 100% by by Photography Blog (Mar, 2013)The X20 offers better image quality thanks to the new 12 megapixel 2/3-type X-Trans CMOS II sensor with no low-pass filter, much faster auto-focusing and operational speed, enhanced manual focusing that you'll actually want to use, and an innovative optical viewfinder that now displays key shooting information.
Conclusion Which is better for you?
Features Key features of the Fujifilm Finepix X10 compared to the Fujifilm FinePix x20
MP12
2/3"
Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)The Fujifilm X10 combines retro-styled attractiveness with excellent build quality, a fast zoom lens and all the external controls you could want in a compact camera.
12 MP
2/3"
Rated 77% by by DPReview (Apr, 2013)The Fujifilm X20 takes what made the X10 that came before it a hit - namely its well-built, retro-styled body, fast lens, and full suite of manual controls - and adds an improved sensor and AF system.
megapixels

Finepix X10 by Acoustica (Jan, 2012)There still seems to be confusion about whether in RAW, or at least when in RAW, you are actually getting a 12 megapixel image or a 6 megapixel one.
FinePix x20 by Photography Blog (Mar, 2013)The Fujifilm X20 is a brand new premium compact camera with a large 2/3-type 12 megapixel sensor and a fast 4x optical zoom lens.
sensor size
Finepix X10 by DPReview (Jul, 2012)While the X10's AF system focusing speed is roughly on par with compact camera competitors like the Panasonic LX5, it lags behind the performance of the best contrast-detect systems we've seen, like those in the current crop of Micro Four Thirds cameras, for instance.
FinePix x20 by I.-R.-Smart.--Tzu-Crazy (Mar, 2013)It's not the game-changer the RX-100 is (sensor size and variety of features in such a small package), but what you do get is a superior lens, no optical low pass filter - for crispy photographs, an actually usable viewfinder, 12fps, superb build quality, and delicious, delicious bokeh!
wide angle lens
Finepix X10 by George-SherwinPersonally, I loved the smoother, less resistant original lens, but can only assume that Fuji bowed to the handful of whiners who complained that it was too easy to turn it off when rotating to the Wide Angle position.... really.
FinePix x20 by bored99 (Mar, 2013)* Has a fairly wide angle at 28mm, which makes life easier if you're photographing a children's museum or an indoor birthday party (people don't have to squish together quite as much to fit into your image).
aperture size
Finepix X10 by Tim-Kimzey--fstop (Sep, 2012)The good thing is that it is FAST f/2 to f/2.8-thats much better than most small P/S's and probably the MAIN REASON i bought this camera.
FinePix x20 by JaySin (Apr, 2013)The zoom range is sufficient for most encounters, the constant aperture of f2.8 is a wonderful feature and the camera honestly feels like a nice solid piece of equipment rather than a cheap piece of plastic.
zoom range
| 0x | 4x | 4x |
Finepix X10 by A-photographer (Feb, 2012)Reports of excellent image quality even at higher ISOs sounded great, it has a bright and usable optical viewfinder, a fast and sharp manual zoom lens and all metal construction.
FinePix x20 by bored99 (Mar, 2013)* Only 4x zoom - better than no zoom at all, but it's much easier to compose pictures well with a 10x or 15x optical zoom, especially if your child is across a soccer field and you want to have them be the clear star in your photo.

Finepix X10 by georgehd--georgehd (Dec, 2011)For anyone who is used to using an SLR, this is an excellent backup or small camera to carry when you do not want to carry a larger SLR.
FinePix x20 by Ran--Ranchibi (Mar, 2013)It is not DSLR quality close but, daylight pics are close enough and, the portability fun factor makes it a joy to use and, is the reason I got it...I will carry it because of those two factors.
Performance Real world tests of Fujifilm Finepix X10 vs Fujifilm FinePix x20
battery life
300 photos
270 photos
Finepix X10 by DPReview (Jul, 2012)We don't really see the point of using the Continuous IS mode for either stills or video, particularly since it taxes the X10's already short battery life.
FinePix x20 by Anthony-Pantliano--The-Photo-GuyBattery life is good and I was able to take a couple hundred photos, with lots of setting changing and photo reviewing, before the low battery icon showed up.
max continuous shooting
Finepix X10 by c|net (Dec, 2011)Its burst shooting sounds fast, but it's pretty limited: 7.5fps for one second.
FinePix x20 by E.-J-Tastad--ejt (Apr, 2013)I didn't notice ORB issues or anything on this camera like the previous model suffered from (highlights would be perfect circles instead of star bursts, from clipping around the highlight).

sensor
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 90% by by TrustedReviews (Dec, 2011)As mentioned previously the X10 uses an all-new 2/3inch EXR CMOS sensor that delivers an effective resolution of 12MP, and which is backside-illuminated for better low-light performance.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 90% by by Photography Blog (Nov, 2011)Find out if it can deliver the goods in our in-depth Fujifilm FinePix X10 review, complete with full-size sample JPEG and raw images, videos and more... The Fujifilm Finepix X10 is an advanced compact camera that offers a retro design, 12 megapixel 2/3-inch EXR CMOS sensor, a 4x, 28-112mm, f/2.0-2.8 zoom lens with a manual zoom ring, optical viewfinder, 1080p movie recording, 7fps burst shooting and a 2.8-inch LCD monitor with a resolution of 460,000 dots.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)Due to the unique design of the X10's EXR sensor, however, we're also providing access to the 6MP resolution images in both Raw and JPEG mode.
lens
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)The X10's 28-112mm (equivalent) zoom lens is reasonably versatile and impressively fast, maintaining a respectably wide maximum aperture even at its maximum telephoto setting.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 100% by by Christian-X (Nov, 2011)This camera has the retro looks, classic dials (fast access) and fun to shoot with; size is just right and feels good b/c that magnesium alloy body material; I like the Fujinon lens to be honest, Nikkor, Fujinon and Leica are my favorites; I like X10's bright and fast lens f2.0-f2.8(telephoto) makes it real good for low light shooting.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)While F2.8 on the X10's lens is clearly not equivalent to F2.8 on a full-frame camera in depth-of-field terms, when set to an equivalent focal length equivalent and maximum aperture the X10 can deliver a very similar background blur to an APS-C DSLR with kit zoom.
focus
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)One thing that helps immeasurably in low light is the X10's bright AF illuminator.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 90% by by Photography Blog (Nov, 2011)The Fujifilm FinePix X10's Pro Focus scene mode creates images with a shallow depth of field, with the camera taking a rapid series of exposures at different focal points and aligning them to produce a single frame showing a sharply focused subject against a soft, out-of-focus background.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)Despite its reasonably fast capture modes, the X10 is unsuitable for shooting sports or action though, largely due to its lack of a true (predictive) focus tracking AF system, but also because of its live view behaviour in continuous shooting modes (more information follows below).
type
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)Some photographers may balk at voluntarily reducing the X10's output resolution from 12MP to 6MP but in our opinion it's worth it because 'DR' mode is very useful, and arguably the most valuable of the three EXR settings.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 76% by by DPReview (Jul, 2012)This strongly suggests that the unique EXR sensor data is not being demosaiced for optimal results by either of the raw converters, both of which officially support the X10.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 90% by by TrustedReviews (Dec, 2011)As with all Fuji EXR sensors, the chip inside the X10 employs a unique pixel arrangement that allows neighbouring pixels to be combined when necessary to increase sensitivity in low-light conditions, but which can also act independently to deliver maximum resolution.
viewfinder
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 100% by by sznajder (Dec, 2011)What i like on Fuji over Leica - build quality and finish is better on Fuji, viewfinder is great addition, for me size is better on Fuji ( never carried my Leica in my pockets) DOF - well, I like it more on X10 and pictures look phenomenal on both cams giving slight edge to Fuji which photos look more like from film times.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 90% by by Photography Blog (Nov, 2011)Optical viewfinders are something of a dying breed amongst modern cameras, so it's very refreshing to see X10 feature one, offering 85% scene coverage, diopter control, a bright display and zooming in and out as the focal length is changed.
Fujifilm Finepix X10 | Rated 90% by by TrustedReviews (Dec, 2011)The back of the X10 is adorned with a 2.8inch, 460k-dot TFT LCD monitor that offers 100% coverage and good viewing angles.
