If you’d prefer to hold the camera to your eye the1.14million-dot electronic viewfinder offers a relatively large, bright and impressively sharp image, especially when set to 50fps (the 30fps setting increases battery life but is much too stuttery for anything other than still-life work).

Not a great choice for bird and wildlife watchers if you expect the full zoom out of it to work perfectly, then.

Like I mentioned, image quality just has too many flaws considering its sensor size and price.

Once you get a couple of priority mode settings down and reduce the photos to a smaller size in-camera at around 7 megapixels, then images improve a good deal; of course, this means in order to get the best from this camera, you're sacrificing pixels - and you're paying essentially for a 7 megapixel camera instead of a 16 megapixel camera.

If you are interested in the shorter focal lengths, especially wide angle, you may like the camera.

When it arrived, I was surprised that the camera body was a little larger than I anticipated and the lens was very long, very large.

Sure, you could match the DSLR to a nice 70-200mm f/2.8 lens and it would smoke the X-S1, but those lenses are $1000.

7ps at full resolution is faster than most compact cameras and indeed most comparable DSLRs too.

Although it won't satisfy the person looking for a teeny, tiny camera, in every other way this is without any hesitation an excellent purchase.

The lens on this camera is manual, "zoomed" by twisting the barrel with your fingers but it is a delightful piece of kit to use and reasonably fast too being F2.8 to F5.6 at 624mm focal length.

If you order this camera while the the FREE MEMORY CARD is being offered, be sure to read the "Learn more" section at the end of the "Buy This Camera, Get a Free Memory Card from AmazonBasics:" I assumed buying the camera automatically would include the free SHDC class 10 4 GB memory card.
