Rated 100% by by Tim-Kimzey--fstop (Sep, 2012)1/200th! The tiny pop-up flash actually works quite well with decent coverage and color balance, more importantly it seems to provide very accurate exposure without blowing out the scene.
Conclusion Which is better for you?
Features Key features of the Leica D-LUX 5 compared to the Fujifilm Finepix X10
MP10
1/1.6"
Rated 100% by by Dr.-Bitz--Boss-Angeles (Jan, 2011)The wide angle lens is a stunner as well, especially in the video mode.
12 MP
2/3"
Rated 100% by by sznajder (Dec, 2011)What i like on Fuji over Leica - build quality and finish is better on Fuji, viewfinder is great addition, for me size is better on Fuji ( never carried my Leica in my pockets) DOF - well, I like it more on X10 and pictures look phenomenal on both cams giving slight edge to Fuji which photos look more like from film times.
megapixels
| 0 MP | 12 MP | 20 MP |
D-LUX 5 by Photography Blog (Dec, 2011)Generally however the level of detail captured is very good.
Finepix X10 by Acoustica (Jan, 2012)There still seems to be confusion about whether in RAW, or at least when in RAW, you are actually getting a 12 megapixel image or a 6 megapixel one.
sensor size
D-LUX 5 by Ben (Nov, 2011)Granted my 5D is a bit dated now, but it's still pro quality full frame DSLR and better than 80% of all DSLR's out there.
Finepix X10 by DPReview (Jul, 2012)While the X10's AF system focusing speed is roughly on par with compact camera competitors like the Panasonic LX5, it lags behind the performance of the best contrast-detect systems we've seen, like those in the current crop of Micro Four Thirds cameras, for instance.
wide angle lens
D-LUX 5 by Amazon-Addict--Amazon-Addict (Mar, 2011)The wide angle format is a lot of fun, and I use the scene modes quite a bit more than I expected (love the FILM mode especially).
Finepix X10 by George-SherwinPersonally, I loved the smoother, less resistant original lens, but can only assume that Fuji bowed to the handful of whiners who complained that it was too easy to turn it off when rotating to the Wide Angle position.... really.
aperture size
D-LUX 5 by Sean-Foulkes (Mar, 2011)The little aperture/shutter speed adjust dial by your thumb is small, but works great considering it is almost invisible.
Finepix X10 by Tim-Kimzey--fstop (Sep, 2012)The good thing is that it is FAST f/2 to f/2.8-thats much better than most small P/S's and probably the MAIN REASON i bought this camera.
zoom range
| 0x | 4x | 4x |
D-LUX 5 by Photography Blog (Dec, 2011)grey. Whilst this may seem like a frippery to some, the core headline features are a modest sounding 10.1 megapixels yet from a larger than average 11.3MP, 1/1.63-inch CCD, a wide-angle focal range the equivalent of 24-90mm in 35mm old money, or a 3.8x optical zoom - equally modest in these 'travel zoom' times but adequate - plus a 3-inch LCD bestowed with 460k dot resolution.
Finepix X10 by A-photographer (Feb, 2012)Reports of excellent image quality even at higher ISOs sounded great, it has a bright and usable optical viewfinder, a fast and sharp manual zoom lens and all metal construction.
body size
110 x 65 x 25 mm
117 x 70 x 57 mm
D-LUX 5 by TL (May, 2011)I needed a compact camera for everyday use as my DSLR and the equipments are quite heavy to carry around, so I did some research and tested various compact cameras and 4/3 systems cameras, and decided to get this leica camera as it has the best combination of size, build quality, picture quality, and zoom range.
Finepix X10 by georgehd--georgehd (Dec, 2011)For anyone who is used to using an SLR, this is an excellent backup or small camera to carry when you do not want to carry a larger SLR.
Performance Real world tests of Leica D-LUX 5 vs Fujifilm Finepix X10
max continuous shooting
D-LUX 5 by Patrick-D.-Warthen (Aug, 2012)One other thing I did was insert my 128 GB 45MB/s memory card into it and set it to burst mode.
Finepix X10 by c|net (Dec, 2011)Its burst shooting sounds fast, but it's pretty limited: 7.5fps for one second.

Leica D-LUX 5 | Rated 80% by by Photography Blog (Dec, 2011)As anyone would expect, the Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium impresses from the off, presenting a very crisp, clean fascia, that like the Olympus E-P3, Fuji X10 et al is likely to draw admiring glances.

Leica D-LUX 5 | Rated 80% by by Photography Blog (Dec, 2011)The Leica D-LUX 5 offers a Macro setting that allows you to focus on a subject that is 3cms away from the camera when the lens is set to wide-angle.
Leica D-LUX 5 | Rated 80% by by Richard-Fisher--Louisiana-AudiophileThere were a few items I needed to shoot in the macro mode so I unwrapped the "repaired" D lux 5 and set the camera up with my preferred settings using the auto white balance and then took a few macro shots.
Leica D-LUX 5 | Rated 80% by by Photography Blog (Dec, 2011)Turning our attention back to the top plate of the D-Lux 5 Titanium, we find a large shutter release button encircled by a lever for controlling the zoom, its ridged edge jutting forward in a lip for easier purchase.
