The camera's highest full-resolution sensitivity is ISO 1,600, and I'd stay clear of it unless you really need to take a low-light photo.

I have taken low light shots at a concert, taken some cool close ups, played with the various special effects settings and had a great time creating some really interesting photos.

All of the sample images in this review were taken using the 16 megapixel Fine JPEG setting, which gives an average image size of around 8Mb.

I realize that it's saving larger files (14.1 megapixels versus 8.0 megapixels), but I can't wait 2 seconds in between shots.

sensor size

Nikon Coolpix L26
Canon PowerShot A2200
The camera will need to have a highly intelligent computer to make sure it uses the right ISO to get the pictures as smooth as possible.
Coolpix L26 by Photography Blog (Feb, 2013)
On the other hand, because of consistent color at higher ISOs, the photos are better than from other cameras at this price; they just get slightly washed out at and above ISO 400.

wide angle lens

Nikon Coolpix L26
Canon PowerShot A2200
This model has a better optical zoom and bigger MegaPixal count than previous models and for the price it beats out a ton of the other cameras it's size.
Coolpix L26 by Paul (May, 2012)
You see, the A2200 is a reasonably solid camera with surprisingly good picture quality for the fingernail-sized sensor, which is par for the course with Canon; the optics are about equivalent to the kit lens on an EOS Rebel DSLR, so although you won't be reading shelf tags from 50 feet away, you can still print out a pretty good sized blowup of any given shot.
PowerShot A2200 by Brian-Connors (Dec, 2011)

aperture size

Nikon Coolpix L26
Canon PowerShot A2200
It selects a wide aperture to let as much light in as possible while speeding up the ISO to make the sensor more sensitive to light.
Coolpix L26 by Photography Blog (Feb, 2013)
One thing I was curious about was controlling the camera to take advantage of the f/2.8 aperture...there are no Aperture Priority modes that would think to be pretty simple to program into the camera, but if you play around enough with Live mode you can get the camera to act accordingly.

I think that Fuji Finepix T400 camera with the 16MP and he 40X Zoom would blow this one away, but it is $459 so I would expect it to be better than this one.

The A2200 is a great digital camera, it provides excellent optical zoom, which, to those of you aware of, is the actual camera lenses functioning to focus on an image.

I love the size of the camera and needed a small camera besides my Nikon D50 which is sometimes awkward.

What I like about this camera: It uses an SD card and if you will invest in a quality SD card that has some speed to it you will be happy because the faster the photos load to the card, the shorter time you will have to wait between shots.

The 3" LCD screen is wonderful.

Video you can adjust standard or miniature effect, white balance, colors, and quality from HD movie 1280 or down to 320 (longer movie, lower image quality).

It is small enough to fit in your pocket or purse and yet the photos are fantastic.

But it's still an easy to use camera if you want to just use the auto setting you get nice pictures without having to fuss with finding the right setting.
