Image sharpness is generally quite good – at least when the camera is being used at wideangle and mid-telephoto settings – while colour representation also tends to be accurate and pleasing.

You can only view the results on a 3D TV (the FZ48 records standard MPO files), and although it isn't as effective as images taken with Panasonic's 3D Micro Four Thirds lens or the Fujifilm 3D W3, for example, it does create quite a convincing effect which particularly suits subjects that are close-up to the camera.
Lumix DMC-FZ48 by Photography Blog (Aug, 2011)
You can shoot at normal or high resolution, and at 14 megapixels you will get resolution easily good enough for printing photos or posters.

With wide angle at 25mm you can get everybody in your photo on group shots, don't need to step back or squeeze everybody together like you do with many point and shoots.
Lumix DMC-FZ48 by Life-is-Good (Oct, 2012)
The 24 mm wide angle of the lens is nice when I need a photo of the bigger picture.

Unfortunately, the continuous shooting feature is still crippled, there is still no way to lock the exposure/aperture settings in Auto mode, and no option to hold the current shot on the LCD while the shutter button is depressed.
Lumix DMC-FZ48 by Terry-R.-Umbenhaur--Video-Gaming-Ninja
You do not have the range of creativity that a more expensive true SLR camera would offer, particularly with its limited aperture settings, but you can take some pretty nice photos with this camera.

Yes, that ancient FZ10 had a metal body, where the new FZ47 is plastic instead... But the optics are great, the autofocus is great, the low light is very, very good, the bright light is superb, the speed is blazing, and the zoom is friggin' awesome... I just love it.

30x optical zoom- works great so long as the light is good.

It's the camera you have with you, a very practical bring along camera, light-weight with decent quality, unless you're a real purist.
Lumix DMC-FZ48 by Randall-Allen--Sierra-Biker (Nov, 2012)
I have nice Panasonic, Canon and Nikon pocket cameras - the pixel quality on the Fuji are superior.

Never-the-less, while the ASA100 is better, I would have been quite satisfied with the ASA400 if that's all I could get!

I bought myself a twin of hers, my dad (who, fun fact, introduced me to photography in the 70's) bought one, our school yearbook asked for my recommendation and bought this camera (FZ47 with 24xOptical Zoom for same price we bought earlier model), and I just bought another for my 15 year-old son for Christmas.
