I've got an Alienware m17x and love it like an only child, myself.
I've yet to find a game it can't run! I use it all day, every day for work (programming/site design/AJAX/PHP etc.) and then at night (or when I can't help myself mid-work) I game for hours on end with no problems at all.I will say, however, that you'll need a good case and a strong back, cause this puppy is about 12lbs (plus the added air cooling mat contraption I have which is a must have for hardcore gaming).Which laptop do you recommend for Dylan?

The HP Envy 15 seems to fit most of your specs.

I would suggest an older model but it works greater than expected. I had this since 2010 and it still has good performance. It's an Asus K40IN Series laptop. Asus K40IN Series model is a heavy duty laptop and it is based on the Asus Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) technology for better energy efficiency.
In addition, it has a 14" screen and the best thing about it is that it has Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 processor with clock frequency of 2 GHz, then the NVIDIA GeForce G102M graphics with 512MB of RAM and NVIDIA MCP75L chipset which works well in playing games continuously. As far as I'm concern, it may be older, but it's best for gaming -- tried and tested.

I would have to say the Asus G71G-A1for many of reasons.
1) 12GB of RAM = you can have MULTIPLE and I mean MULTIPLE programs/word documents/ iTunes running/ Adobe Dreamweaver running/ and Ableton Live running along with having Chrome open with a bunch of tabs running and the computer will not hesitate at all.
2) I recomend changing the Hardrive to a Solid State Drive to extremely get the performance from the laptop like you have never seen before.
Lastly, the mouse is multitouch pad. Like some HP laptops there is a scroll section off to the side which is very annoying when playing games. Zooming in and out is exactly like the Iphone or Android. Pinching.
Go ahead, buy this computer
