Movies play with the fluid flow of a cinema and I connected the laptop to my projector and enjoyed "Armageddon" in 1080p, a most enjoyable and fun experience.

There are so many positive aspects to this computer and its design, from the cooling system (quite possibly one of the best designs I have ever seen for a laptop) to the rich hardware (16 GB RAM and a solid state drive plus the i7 (which does boost to 3.0 GHz)) all cooperate fantastically together.

I haven't used the 3D glasses much yet, but even so I recommend this model over the other G74SX models that lack the 3D display since the matte screen and very high brightness capabilities of the 3D panel make it possible to work in what would otherwise have been poor lighting conditions for the dimmer, glossy-screened 2D models.

The big bright 17.3 inch screen is nice when doing work plus I have had no issues connecting to any network at the college.

Ram

The RAM is hard to find to match the installed RAM.

The Asus G74SX 3DE has far more RAM natively than either the Toshiba or HP top of the line laptops unless you pay extra in the case of HP.

At best, I've seen this computer use up about 6GB of the RAM and only 6 out of the 8 threads in the processor, which is pretty much saying that even when I working it hard the laptop still has power to spare.

I just got it out of the box and swapped the 160GB "320 Intel" SSD SATA II for a. OCZ Technology 240 GB Agility 3 SSD- 3G SATA 6.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive AGT3-25SAT3-240GI used ACRONIS True Image Home 2011.

Storage size, unless you are a kid, most adults don't have enough free time to fill up a 160GB + 240GB SSD drive and if you do, you are making enough money to afford a larger SSD; so either way SSD is the only way to go.

Start up time really fast, solid state hard drive is so zippy, your head with spin wondering how a computer could ever be this fast.

Harddrive

Not as quick as the Solid State drive version I'm sure, and I foresee myself purchasing a Solid State hard drive at some point in the future for this beast, but overall, the performance has been more than acceptable in terms of both data and graphic processing power.

I have also since replaced the secondary hard drive with a. Samsung 830 Series 128 GB SATA III SSD, also with great results.-I also wanted a wireless card with better support in other operating systems and a better reputation for good performance than the wireless card this laptop shipped with an AzureWave AW-NB037H, so I purchased and installed an Intel 6230 WiFi + Bluetooth 3.0 adapter.

it is a blu ray drive with DVD±RW Included (meaning you can burn DVD-R's and DVD-RW)!

Blu-ray player will not play blu-ray movies (will play the audio, just not the video - tried multiple blu-rays with the same results using the pre-installed Roxio CinePlayer software).
