#4 in ASUS full size laptops
Released October, 2011
Rated 100% by by Perm-Parker (Jan, 2012)USB 3.0 - This is pretty recent technology, and although I don't have anything that uses USB 3.0 right now, it is a nice feature to have for the future.

Rated 100% by by Matt-in-SVG (Apr, 2012)I'm so impressed with the Bang & Olufsen speaker system, and since I have a hearing problem being able to hear music and movies clear from a laptop is a huge plus.

N53 Series N53SN by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)The "HD" display resolution of 1366x768 is definitely underwhelming.
screen resolution
N53 Series N53SN by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)After a few "scroll ups" and "scroll downs", I re-realized why I was looking for something with a higher resolution, even on a 15.6" display.
N53 Series N53SN by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)I read the pros and cons, akin to "1080p on a 32-inch TV", and I do not doubt this is adequate for games, it's just not for me.

N53 Series N53SN by J. (Apr, 2012)The processor is great and programs rarely lag/freeze as with my previous laptop.
N53 Series N53SN by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)Driver updates may help, but !!! 4.8 !!! for the "Graphics Index" is considerably the lowest I researched with the 2670QM processor.
processor
N53 Series N53SN by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)Laptop looks great, features the newer i7-2670QM processor, runs almost silently, loaded with relatively minor bloatware, the usual Asus software multimedia suite, and keyboard/multi-touch trackpad seem very responsive in the Win7 64-bit desktop environment.
N53 Series N53SN by Perm-Parker (Jan, 2012)If you're a more serious games, then you should consider ASUS G53SW-XA1 Republic of Gamers 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop, for 100$ extra you lose some features (less processor speed, less storage, but faster hard drive, and it's also heavier) but you gain a better graphics card.

N53 Series N53SN by Perm-Parker (Jan, 2012)Up to 16 GBs of RAM - I haven't seen this option in any other laptops other than Alienware.
N53 Series N53SN by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)More than 1.5GB VRAM is likely marketing bonus and not likely to improve your gaming experience, so buy an extra battery instead, while 6GB to 8GB RAM should be plenty.

Harddrive
ASUS N53 Series N53SN 15.6", 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, 640 GB HDD | Rated 80% by by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)but 5400rpm seems a tad sluggish from what I'm used to.
ASUS N53 Series N53SN 15.6", 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, 640 GB HDD | Rated 80% by by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)I cannot otherwise explain why Windows believes the drive rates 5.9, or practically the highest score for platter-based drives, and also the same rating of the 500GB 7200rpm drive in the Asus U46E-BAL6 model at one of the local stores.
Keyboard
ASUS N53 Series N53SN 15.6", 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, 640 GB HDD | Rated 80% by by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)Minimal flex on the keyboard was noted and hands were comfortable to place on the very cool surfaces.
ASUS N53 Series N53SN 15.6", 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, 640 GB HDD | Rated 80% by by citisinz-in-VA--Click---Save (Nov, 2011)Minimal fan noise noted below the display and towards the top-right area, just above the keyboard, after stressful applications were loaded.
Gaming
ASUS N53 Series N53SN 15.6", 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, 640 GB HDD | Rated 100% by by J. (Apr, 2012)I bought it as a gaming laptop and it runs many games without a problem.
Screen
ASUS N53 Series N53SN 15.6", 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, 640 GB HDD | Rated 100% by by Perm-Parker (Jan, 2012)Glossiness - Maybe this isn't an issue for everyone, but the edges that surround the screen are a bit too glossy.1366x768 - I get Full HD from and external monitor, but it would have been nice to have it included.
Storage
ASUS N53 Series N53SN 15.6", 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, 640 GB HDD | Rated 100% by by Perm-Parker (Jan, 2012)No Blu-Ray - Not something I was precisely looking for, but it would have been a great addition.
