Mic/Headphones.The webcam is better in the Mac, this is really a weak point in Asus, they use the 0.3 MP camera in most of their laptops.

Intel Core i5 2557M

The screen resolution is great: 1600x900, so it is exactly widescreen (16:9), and I've enjoyed seeing movies, pictures and working on it.

The display is very sharp and very small fonts are clear and readable.
Zenbook UX31E by JR (Nov, 2011)
I wanted a new laptop to bring with me on a trip, be light and be fast and this one will likely fit the bill as long as my vision remains ability to read the default small letters on the screen else I'll have to get into the changing font sizes, etc.The speed is good considering.

If you are looking for more resolution, so that you may fit more stuff on your screen (hello multitaskers), but you don't want a HUGE 15" screen, look no further.

The lightweight portability, performance & beauty is enough to make me want to buy another zenbook for my wife(or myself) when updates are added later this year(IPS screen, ivy bridge cpu, 512 ssd).

Performance Real world tests of ASUS Zenbook UX31E

3DMark06 CPU

Performance-Processing/read-write: It's an i7, performs at the level expected with a very fast SSD.

From what I've read the difference in performance with the DH53, which has the core i5, is not really noticeable for the price difference, but I haven't used the DH53, so I really cannot make that assesment.

great specs: the i7 processor and the overall speed of the laptop is amazing upgrading from Core 2 Duo.
Zenbook UX31E by R.-Dai (May, 2012)
The UX31E has good performance (although it strikes me as underwhelming for an i7 with 256Gb in SSD, which is what I ordered), decent battery life (video and dimmed screen will give you under 5 hours), a nice screen, a palatable keyboard, a reasonable although by no means comprehensive set of ports, and an infuriating track pad that causes your typing to jump around.

The notebook quality, design, screen brightness, high resolution are perfect.

* Touchpad works fine; some reviews complained about this aspect of the unit; I found that spending time adjusting the touchpad features was of benefit in achieving a very good setup; I have no significant adverse touchpad conditions; it takes some getting use to - my unit uses the ELAN touchpad driver; I have no experience with the Sentellic driver as some units have been shipped with this driver.

The complimentary laptop cover, vga adapter, and ethernet adapter were also value components for me.

Body

The tendency when you receive a light weight laptop like this, so new and light is to tret (a) it lightly and not "hammer" on it they way you would an old IBM keyboard, but if I do that which is really my style, I have no problem.
