The feel of it is similar to a macbook air when you are holding it and I love the screen size.

Display - The display is 1280 x 800 and 12.1" (It's not as small as a netbook but it's not as big as an ultraportable).

A Chromebook performs quite well, considering that its guts are based on an Intel Atom N570 dual core processor, a very good CPU but not a high-end unit.

You can imagine how much it will cost (parts + labor + shipping cost) compared to replacing the RAM yourself, not to mention lost time waiting.

I enjoy the iPad because of it's instant on, super long battery life, and super fast and capable connectivity to the web- all things make it a superb Everday Portable Computing Device.

I skipped the first generation Chromebooks after reading about the poor performance of the Atom processors, but jumped at this iteration literally minutes after it was available.
Chromebook Series 5 550 by bozzle (Jun, 2012)
Major downside is the processor is too slow for games on G+ with our local anemic broadband network speed.

In addition the 12.1in screen (1280 x 800 pixels), while not the brightest we have seen, has a wide viewing angle and good colour reproduction.

Everything's still browser-based, but Google has clearly realized that people want an interface that feels more like Windows or Mac OS X, even if the Chrome OS vision is for something different.

7/10). The overall construction of the machine is of decent quality, can feel a bit cheap at times though; and it feels quite heavy for its looks; not that its weight is of any issue.

I am very pleased with the long battery life, the auto updating which allows for an "always current" computer, the smooth workingoperation.

It is lighter than my macbook air (wow), very thin, but cheap looking.

Touchpad

The oversize touchpad is very nice, making it easy to use it from almost any hand angle.

The keyboard is very nice and the track pad is probably the best that i have ever seen on any non-mac computer.
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 100% by by Vineeta-Kapoor (Mar, 2012)
Given the persistent issues with the Cr-48’s touchpad, I’m sure you can understand why I was quite worried about the Series 5’s similar Synaptics ClickPad.

Keyboard

*nicely done keyboard, I do a lot of word processing and I love this keyboard.
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 60% by by B.-Pan (Jun, 2011)
Second, the keyboard is very comfortable for someone with large hands compared to many other 11.6" options on the market.
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 40% by by JMav (Jul, 2011)
I love that I can email, Facebook, blog, look up stuff on IMDB (which I seem to do a lot) with it propped up nicely on my lap and all 10 fingers flying over the keyboard.

Screen

The tradeoff with a matte display, of course, is that colors don't look nearly as vivid as on a glossy display, and indeed everything on the Chromebook looks slightly muted.
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 74% by by The Verge (May, 2012)
The screen is nice and bright, but the contrast is weak, so light colors can be hard to see.
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 80% by by Craig-Hammell (Jun, 2011)
Regardless, the touchpad was much better than I anticipated, and while I wish there were some additional gestures, it provides a decent navigating experience.
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 55% by by The Verge (Jun, 2011)

Type

The processor and the added RAM allow more windows to be open at once and better handling of documents and files: 1080p video can stream smoothly, albeit at 1,280x800 pixels, and some basic Web-based games run passably.

The feature is actually available in the Dev channel of Chrome OS, and it works impressively well — though are there some definite bugs with the new version.
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 74% by by The Verge (May, 2012)

Operating system

Very light, great screen even though it's not really HD, the keyboard shortcuts make browsing better, and very simple to use, especially when compared to W7 (but I should note that these OSs fundamentally have different purposes).
SAMSUNG Chromebook Series 5 550 Wi-Fi | Rated 80% by by FB3159
I'd love to have an EASY install of the Chrome OS on my new MacBook Air, one that wouldn't endanger the Mac OS I use daily for work.
