From the get-go, the laptop operated slower than my 4-yo XPS M1330 but after a format and OS reinstallation... Works pretty fast, nice piece of hardware without the weight.

I bought this because I loved the size, the look and the screen.
Series 9 900X3A by Mark-Olmstead (Aug, 2011)
I choose this product because of its compact size (yeah the Vaio's screen was nice and big, but a pain to pack up and use while laying down) and newer components (the SSD is unbelievable).

The screen has a maximum resolution of 1,366x768 pixels, but its brightness and viewable angles surpass many other laptops we've seen.

Black levels were also superb, so you can really pick out every detail in dark and gritty movies and games, regardless of how bright you set the backlight.

I normally use the 2.4 Ghz because it has better range than the 5.0 GHz, but even if I am able to get 4 bars on the Samsung with the 2.4 Ghz wireless signal (and that is while standing within 10 feet of the router only), the signal drops out so frequently that it renders the connection useless.
Series 9 900X3A by Michael-E.-Freeman (Nov, 2011)
So if you are primarily using a 5 Ghz router, you probably will not have any issues (making the broad-based assumption that your experience is the same as mine).

The good news continues with the 900X3A's specifications, with the headline being its use of a dual-core Intel Core i5-2537M.

And I bought the fully loaded machine, i7 quad-core with 8GB RAM....it never even occurred to me that the Wi-Fi would be the limiter!

I'd recommend upgrading to 8GB of ram for multitasking - cmon it's only $30 or so and everything runs like a champ, so smooth.
Series 9 900X3A by pissantz34--pissantz34 (Nov, 2011)
It's configured in a single stick of 4GB taking up one of the two DIMM slots so Samsung can conceivably offer models with 8GB of RAM in the future.

As a power user I wasn't sure the Intel Core i5 and 4 GB RAM would be enough; but after running several VMWare servers, I'm very pleased with the performance.

Frankly, to most peoples eye and usage, you probably wont see huge differences with fast SSD HDD and RAM, its the CPU which will make a difference and what speeds the CPU's run.

The Performance: The i5 processor coupled with the SSD makes this Laptop the fastest one I've used.

Combined with a truly excellent screen, surprisingly good speakers, the best touchpad on any Windows laptop and decent battery life, if you're looking for one of the thinnest and lightest Windows 7 machines around it's an excellent choice and well worth its high asking price.

For all that you could love about a MacBook Air, nearly the same could be said for the sleek, black Series 9, a 13-inch laptop packed with exceptional design and undeniable geek appeal.

Connectivity is great considering the thickness of the machine and Samsung provides a stylish and neat Ethernet adapter with the stunning packaging box.

writer/reader.True, maybe Sony's magnesium-alloy plus aluminum isn't as fancy as Samsung's duralumin (whatever that is, exactly), but that comes down to the same type of comparison you have with Macbooks; would you rather have higher-end electronics and capabilities, or would you prefer a spiffy aluminum case carved from a single block?

The laptop is very sleek and nice, but the touchpad is horribly made.

Screen

As a small disappointment and while plenty bright, the screen is not quite as sharp as LCDs screen by any standards.

Combined with excellent sharpness, we really can't think of any negatives with this screen, especially since Samsung has made the excellent decision of going for a matt screen finish to keep reflections to a minimum!

Body

I find it very enjoyable to type on.-The Duralumin Body - Other than the fact it looks awesome and is very light, everything about the body styling is perfect.

Light and sleek, this is what I've been looking for as a good work/travel laptop without the weight of most laptops.

That's not to say the construction isn't very solid, but it just doesn't feel as rock solid as Apple's MacBook Air.

Size

The only thing it may have over the air (because its very similar in terms of looks and weight) is if you prefer black over silver.

In general - the sleekness and lightweight of this laptop were the reason I purchased it.

Ports

Ports and connections are always a challenge on ultraslim laptops, and the Series 9 is no exception.

In addition, the wired Ethernet on this laptop is only a 100M fast Ethernet.

Type

For only £70 more, the Samsung might not look as sexy or offer as high a resolution on its otherwise superior screen, but provides a vastly better processor and platform, fast external connectivity with USB 3.0, a backlit keyboard and, of course, Windows 7.

I think it is worth it if you know and like Mac OS but this Samsung is certainly a good Windows alternative.
