GHz2.4
Intel Core i7 2760QM
by LaptopMag (Aug, 2011)When we watched a Blu-ray of Iron Man, the red and gold of Tony Stark's suit sparkled, and explosions were wonderfully fiery.

Intel Core i7 3610QM
Rated 80% by by J.-Li (Jun, 2012)But I bought a used Creative USB sound card and it sounded much better and worked beautifully.

M Series M18x by LaptopMag (Aug, 2011)Movies and games simply popped off the display, and it was so large that it enveloped us in the action.
ASUS G75VW-AS71 by Chris-Muller (Aug, 2012)I highly recommend this machine for gamers who want to be on the go, programmers who want serious horse power while at remote locations, or pretty much anyone who wants a computer with a nice big screen and plenty of features to meet any computing needs.
screen resolution
M Series M18x by LaptopMag (Aug, 2011)The massive 18.4-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel WLED display on the M18x is a sight to behold.
ASUS G75VW-AS71 by Greg-Siegel (Aug, 2012)The matte screen with full 1080p resolution is very nice and easy on the eye.

M Series M18x by LaptopMag (Aug, 2012)Click to EnlargeOur $4.454 review unit has a 2.7-GHz Intel Core i7-3820QM CPU with 16GB of RAM, dual 256GB SSDs in a RAID 0 configuration and dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M GPUs with 2GB of VRAM.
ASUS G75VW-AS71 by K4m1L (Jul, 2012)The GTX660M never gets hot like GT540M (85*C @ BF3) I had before and manages to squeeze out so much performance, 16GB SO-DIMM RAM loads all games @ lightning speeds and the i7 3610QM processor edits 1080p video like my i5 2410M did on 480p - super fast.
processor
M Series M18x by Thomas (Dec, 2011)The only thing wrong with this computer is the processor, it says its the Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor (Quad-Core, 2.2GHz, 6MB Cache), but its actually the one right below it the Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor (Quad-Core, 2.0GHz, 6MB Cache).
ASUS G75VW-AS71 by Brian-Rhodes (Aug, 2012)Perhaps this is mostly software related, but it can seem a little slow for a quad core i7 with little things like bringing up an MS Office app or Mozilla.
memory
| 0 GB | 16 GB | 20 GB |
M Series M18x by LaptopMag (Nov, 2011)Equipped with a 2.5-GHz Intel Core i7-2920XM CPU that overclocks to 4 GHz, 16GB of RAM, two 750GB, 7,200-rpm hard drives in a RAID 0 array, and dual AMD Radeon 6900M GPUs with 2GB of VRAM, the Alienware M18x has seriously epic performance.
ASUS G75VW-AS71 by concerned (Jul, 2012)And with 16GB of RAM, you can more than play any game you want... I got it for work though, so I've been using it with autocad which has been amazing!
Performance Real world tests of Alienware M Series M18x vs ASUS G75VW-AS71
3DMark06 CPU
M Series M18x by LaptopMag (Nov, 2011)s? While the AMD-powered M18x scored a little higher on the synthetic 3DMark06 test, the Nvidia-powered configuration had slightly higher frame rates in actual game play.
ASUS G75VW-AS71 by J.-Hamilton--123 (Jan, 2013)The CPU and video card aren't the highest spec available, but they're 95% of the way there, allowing you to have a cooler running laptop and lower cost, while getting most of the performance the high end hardware have.
cinebench r10 32Bit
M Series M18x by LaptopMag (Aug, 2011)It didn't break the PCMark Vantage record, but it put up a good fight.
ASUS G75VW-AS71 by Brian-Rhodes (Aug, 2012)Not a major concern, but it does leave me scratching my head when speeds are comparable to my other dual core i3 laptop.
