Features Key features of the Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5A compared to the Alienware M Series M11x
GHz2.45
Intel Core i7 920XM
Rated 100% by by Christopher-Bennett (Jan, 2012)$$.Among the positives for this laptop are its speedy CPU and GPU, readable resolution on the bright non-reflective 15" display, light weight, stylish form factor, really superb battery life, a great backlit keyboard (once the space key problem is resolved), and a good amount of RAM and hard drive storage.
1.3 GHz
Rated 100% by by Timothy-M.-Richmond (Aug, 2010)I was also pleased that 1080p YouTube worked flawlessly and my programs seem snappy.

Series 7 NP700Z5A by kennethj (Oct, 2012)The way the laptop lid is hinged to the base prevents the screen from opening more than (I'm guessing) 120 degrees, but this isn't a big deal at all.
M Series M11x by MIMO--MIMOthe size is great once you get used to the screen in a few days you will be more than happy.
screen resolution
Series 7 NP700Z5A by S.-Lir (May, 2012)The resolution of the screen is extremely adequate, but not excessive,(remember that the retina display which incidentally is manufactured by Samsung is not a useful feature in say, watching movies), and for reading text and looking at images the resolution of this screen, 1600 x 900, is extremely adequate.
M Series M11x by LaptopMag (Jun, 2011)The system's speedy Core i5 CPU and Nvidia GT540M graphics chip are more than adequate for playing full HD movies; both a 1080p YouTube trailer for Cowboys and Aliens and a 1080p QuickTime video of the same clip were sharp, noise-free, and smooth.

Series 7 NP700Z5A by Gautam-D.-Ramchandani (Nov, 2011)Cons: poor choice of broadcom wireless card, signal strength deteriorates rapidly after 10 feet, only single band 2.4 GHz wireless n so the 5.8 GHz band is not available.
M Series M11x by LaptopMag (Jun, 2011)Other configuration options include a faster 1.5-GHz Core i7 CPU ($200), RAM options from 4 to 16GB, a choice of 7,200-rpm hard drives or an SSD, and Windows 7 Professional ($130) or Ultimate ($150) instead of Home Premium.
processor
Series 7 NP700Z5A by Mean-Mr.-Mustard (Nov, 2011)For $1149, you get:Quad-core i7 processor, 6 GB RAM (easily upgraded to the max 8 GB), high quality discrete ATI graphics card for gaming, slot loading optical drive, FANTASTIC backlit keyboard with a full numeric pad, 8 GB expresse cache for quick starts and better efficiency, and an outstanding 1600 x 900 matte screen which may be my favorite feature overall.
M Series M11x by Griffin-Covert--duct-tape-fixes-everything (Sep, 2012)For the same amount of money, you can get a sager np6110 with the i7 2.3- 3.3GHz quad core and an nvidia 650m with optimus.

Series 7 NP700Z5A by Troy--bbqchickenrobot (Jun, 2012)I also upgraded the RAM to utilize 12GB of RAM with an 8GB SODIMM matching same specs as the Samsung SODIMM soldered to the board.
M Series M11x by TrustedReviews (May, 2011)In addition, we have 4GB of 800MHz DDR3 RAM, which is the minimum (and the maximum) we'd recommend on this system.
