Every part of the machine (okay, save for its touchpad and speakers) is built with the newest and greatest components around — the full HD screen is one of the highest quality panels you’ll find on a laptop today, the unique implementation of Intel’s Light Peak provides beyond competent graphics, and the Core i7 CPU and Samsung RAID 0 SSD trounces every other ultraportable in performance.

The screen resolution is great: 1600x900, so it is exactly widescreen (16:9), and I've enjoyed seeing movies, pictures and working on it.

Be it videos, photos or games, everything is brought to life with a level of detail unsurpassed even by the excellent screen on the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch Not satisfied with awesome colour fidelity alone, viewing angles are incredibly wide.

If you are looking for more resolution, so that you may fit more stuff on your screen (hello multitaskers), but you don't want a HUGE 15" screen, look no further.

Operations is quiet, the high-resolution LED-backed screen is superb - but you need to have good eyes, I can imagine others will have a hard time with the super-fine resolution.

It also automatically returned to the native resolution when the external display device was disconnected.

Our $1,999 unit came fully equipped with Intel’s latest 2.4-GHz Core 2 Duo P8600 processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 250GB hard drive.
VAIO Z Series by LaptopMag (Aug, 2008)
The lightweight portability, performance & beauty is enough to make me want to buy another zenbook for my wife(or myself) when updates are added later this year(IPS screen, ivy bridge cpu, 512 ssd).

It's just to much chip to allow for cooling, so the dual core i7 is mainstream, but if you look close, this one has a much faster i7 than many.
VAIO Z Series by Mark-J.-Tierney--coastie-1980
On top of all that the I7 processor is very fast.

Without it, even tho it's not very thick, this makes the Vaio amazingly thin - almost to the point of it looking like a dept store dummy display.

The SSD is blazingly fast, the machine never gets even slightly warm (despite the fact that I usually run a number of CPU hogs on it), the keyboard is amazingly comfortable (It has a similar chicklet layout to the MBP keyboard), the screen is phenomenal (by contrast, the Thinkpad screen is much too dim).
Rated 100% by by Narada--the-wondering-jew (Apr, 2010)
There are a few negatives, the illuminated keyboard is a nice idea, but could be better (see Logitech keyboards).

* Touchpad works fine; some reviews complained about this aspect of the unit; I found that spending time adjusting the touchpad features was of benefit in achieving a very good setup; I have no significant adverse touchpad conditions; it takes some getting use to - my unit uses the ELAN touchpad driver; I have no experience with the Sentellic driver as some units have been shipped with this driver.

The complimentary laptop cover, vga adapter, and ethernet adapter were also value components for me.
