I would recommend the Sony Xperia S since it has PlayStation mobile (originally called PlayStation Suite) on it. (perfect since you're looking for a phone that's good for games) It also has a high PPI which means games will look awesome. 342 PPI, the highest for any mobile phone. (tied with HTC Rezound)

have it myself, and it is really good. The screen is amazing, it's very fast, the sony android design looks smooth and you get much phone for a good price (around 330€).

    The battery life is ok.

    Drawbacks:

    - great Camera, but the jpg comprssion is too high, so the images don't look as good as they could (future update maybe???)

    - the cover for the usb port is getting a little loose soon, but it stays closed an isn't much of a problem

    can't find any other problems

Oh yeah, it is the new google phone (like Google Nexus), too. Thanky to this you will get the updates from sony, or you can get the original raw android version directly without any extra stuff from sony, so it will be updated for a long time.

Between these two phones I would choose the Samsung Galaxy Note. For gaming the bigger screen of the Galaxy Note would be nice. It also has a better battery life which would also be nice as well.
