The Samsung Note II would surely be the better phone for you.
For studying, both phones are capable of web browsing at fast speeds.
The cameras are both the same with 8 megapixels, but the megapixels only matter up to a certain point. Sooner or later, the lens will be what matters, and the iPhone 5 excels at that.
However, creating is the part where the Note II wins without a doubt. It is one of the best phones on the market for writing, drawing, and creating since it sports a stylus and "a Wacom digitiser system which results in accurate pressure-sensitive input." It also supports many types of documents for editing on the go. The iPhone can do most of the things mentioned above too, but the Wacom system just utilizes the touch screen so well, which is a deal-breaker.
If creating is more important to you, definitely go with the Note II. If the camera is more important, go with the iPhone 5. Keep this in mind though, the iPhone 5 beats the Note II in terms of the camera by just a little bit.
