I want to consolidate tablet and phone features.  Especially like the ability to handwrite and or dictate.  Which smart phone is best bet? Like samsung but willing to try others.

Which phone do you recommend for Yvette-Michelle-Shellie-Munoz?

Samsung S III - $450
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean |4G|4.8"|Quad core 1.4 GHz
Samsung Note - $300
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich |4G|5.3"|Dual core 1.4 GHz

The Samsung Note would surely be the better phone for you.

Both phones can create and share documents, but the Note is just better than the SIII. It is one of the best phones on the market for writing, drawing, and creating since it sports a stylus and "a Wacom digitiser system which results in accurate pressure-sensitive input." (Perfect if you're handwriting/drawing) It also supports many types of documents for editing on the go. The SIII can do the things mentioned above too, but the Wacom system just utilizes the touch screen so well, which is a deal-breaker. The NOTE also has built-in apps that would be perfect for the things mentioned above.

I have the Galaxy 3 and although I really like it as a phone, I haven't really found it super useful for either handwriting or dictation. The handwriting aspect is a bit awkward with a finger, even with a big screen, but that may just be because I prefer using the swype tool or touch typing for speed when typing. I'm not entirely sure how much a stylus may help, but that's one advantage of the Note. I've found the dictation to be pretty good on the S3 but it will sometimes make mistakes, so it's not perfect. It does go up against Siri fairly well though, as i've seen head to head video comparisons where the S3 comes out on top. One thing to keep in mind is that the Note is a significantly bigger and heavier phone (which may be what you want), but it can make using the phone a bit awkward, depending on your personal preference. I like the size of the S3 but any bigger and it's too big for me as a phone. If you decide to go with the Note, keep in mind that its successor, the Note 2, is coming out mid-November in the USA and even earlier in non-US markets.
