Screen size is certainly a personal thing, but we found 4.3 inches to be enough to comfortably view Web pages, video, and messages.

There's a nice, strong 2-megapixel camera on the front that's great for video chats, but the best lens yet is the 8-megapixel one on the back, which continues to take excellent shots on every Galaxy S II variation we've seen.

Notable features include a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing 2-megapixel camera, NFC support, and of course support for AT&T's LTE network.

Performance Real world tests of Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch

cpu speed

Though Qualcomm's chip has a slightly faster CPU, we didn't notice a huge difference in speed in everyday use, and in fact the AT&T and Sprint models felt just a touch more responsive.
Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch by c|net (Sep, 2012)
Unlike the Sprint, AT&T, and unlocked versions of the Galaxy S II, the T-Mobile model is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon S3 1.5GHz dual-core processor instead of Samsung's Exynos 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

Meanwhile, Sunspider 0.9.1 yielded 3455.2ms — a full 749ms better than the OMAP 4-powered Droid Bionic — and Neocore clocked a respectable 59.8fps (it’s capped at 60fps, so that’s basically maxed out).
Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch by The Verge (Sep, 2011)
Samsung had unprecedented success last year delivering its Galaxy S line of flagship Android phones to a global stage, and for good reason: it launched as one of the thinnest smartphones in the world, the homegrown 1GHz Hummingbird processor was plenty fast for its day, and the 4-inch Super AMOLED display was a serious dazzler.

In direct sunlight, you can definitely squint and make out the display, but it’s not a comfortable experience even at max brightness (I used it side-by-side with a Droid Bionic here, and the Bionic fared far better).

In addition to Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n/a), and GPS, the Epic 4G Touch is 4G-capable and can handle simultaneous voice and data over 4G.

Other than having a bigger screen and being lightweight, this phone has little going for it.

Screen

Even so, I still found the Galaxy S II 4G’s high-contrast display very easy to read with deep blacks and very wide viewing angles.

It’s beautiful — seriously one of the most stunning displays I’ve ever seen.

The Epic 4G Touch is one of those rare phones where I actually feel comfortable saying you could use it in place of a midrange point-and-shoot — it’s that good, particularly for stills.
Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch | Rated 80% by by The Verge (Sep, 2011)

Network technology

I wouldn’t recommend doing so, though, since the Galaxy S II 4G features the same Android software, 4G, a much better camera and display, plus faster performance for $60 more.

In real life, page load time was acceptable for 3G-roughly 15 seconds for a mobile-optimized page and 30-60 seconds for a much more graphically rich site.

TouchWiz does have some useful elements, such as the notification pull-down menu that has icons for easily toggling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G, and sound settings.

Expectations are obviously high, and Sprint is the first to take a stab at it with the release of the gratuitously named Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch.
Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch | Rated 80% by by The Verge (Sep, 2011)
The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is the fourth iteration of the Android smartphone we've seen to date, and in terms of build quality, it's the best one yet.

As performance goes, I’ve already mentioned the Touch is a screamer, clocking stock Quadrant scores in excess of 3,100.
