They’re all shuffled instead on a single screen, so they can use the space more efficiently and remain as big as possible and thus more thumbable.

It's no match for dual-core, but if it's good enough for the gaming-centered Xperia Play, the ray shouldn’t have any issues with speed.

Reviews Word on the street

Read the review (Sep, 2011)
Looking back at some of our other benchmarks, the Xperia ray even manages to outperform old high-enders like the Samsung Galaxy S. Sony Ericsson Xperia ray (1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, Adreno 205, Android 2.3).
Read the review (Sep, 2011)
As with the Arc, the Ray features an 8.1-megapixel camera with a Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor, but it also adds a front-facing VGA camera for video chats and self-portraits; 720p HD video capture is another feature common to the Xperia line.

Read the review (Feb, 2012)
The ray has a 3.3inch capacitive display, but while its resolution of 854x480 pixels ensures text and graphics do look very sharp and crisp, on a display this 'small', its narrowness makes using the web browser feel quite awkward, and in portrait mode columns of text look just a little bit too thin.

Screen: 3.3 inch Reality Display with BRAVIA Engine makes the screen super clear.

plus the super clear screen (297ppi), picture quality is better than the iphone 4s.

after upgrade to android 4.0 the phone works great, it has an excellent camera better than iphone4 and fits perfect in your pocket.

Screen

The Mobile Bravia engine promises enhanced contrast and colors and from what we've seen so far on previous models, we're inclined to agree.
Sony Xperia ray | by GSM Arena (Sep, 2011)
Being an LCD unit, the Reality display suffers from color shift when viewed at an angle - light blues for example noticeably tend towards light green when you tilt the phone.
Sony Xperia ray | by GSM Arena (Sep, 2011)
The screen is smallish, but OfficeSuite will reformat the document to fit the screen better.
Sony Xperia ray | by GSM Arena (Sep, 2011)

Apps

It works great for the occasional email, chats, maps, camera, music, radio and You tube.
Sony Xperia ray | Rated 100% by by Ajay (May, 2012)
The inbuilt music app is a little disappointing but you can easily get something else (google play is quite good).
Sony Xperia ray | Rated 100% by by Jo225 (Jul, 2012)
I loved SMS on it, the camera took better pictures than a 5MP cam for reasons I never figured out.
Sony Xperia ray | Rated 100% by by inj (May, 2012)

Camera

The camera uses an Exmor R sensor, which Sony Ericsson says offers improved low light performance.
Sony Xperia ray | Rated 70% by by TrustedReviews (Feb, 2012)
colours. Indoors, under low light, the Exmor R sensor likewise seems to do the trick, as snaps have much less noise than we're used to seeing from camera phone pictures.
Sony Xperia ray | Rated 70% by by TrustedReviews (Feb, 2012)
Much like the Arc, the ray uses an Exmor R backlit sensor which, in theory, improves the low-light performance.
Sony Xperia ray | by GSM Arena (Sep, 2011)

Video

The battery is replaceable, takes 32gb microsim cards, 8Mpix camera takes great pics/videos in HD, ICS is available as a free upgrade, you get a free 50gb Box account as an Xperia owner, coupled with couple of paid but very useful apps, such as Copilot for gps (without internet), Camscanner, Evernote, WolframAlpha, ... it really can beat any i* and any big android brother anytime anywhere.

If you're like me and you already own devices like a computer, a big TV for movies, a laptop, a Kindle fire also for movies and stuff and you're looking for an amazing phone with EVERYTHING you need and super fast then keep reading!
Sony Xperia ray | Rated 100% by by David (May, 2012)
The Sony Ericsson Xperia ray has plenty to offer, not the least of which is an 8MP camera with HD video recording and a Bravia Mobile engine powered screen with eye-popping pixel density.
Sony Xperia ray | by GSM Arena (Sep, 2011)

Battery

My earlier experience with SEs had been excellent, but this one definitely doesn't live up to expectations of user-interface and battery life.
Sony Xperia ray | Rated 60% by by SylverCloud (Oct, 2011)
Battery life: last about 24 hours, so I just charge it every night.
