It is a good phone at a good price and that's not being enough double chip (DUOS) and even better is besides all android and a small, thin compared to others.

As ever, the Orange San Francisco makes for a compelling alternative thanks to its larger, higher resolution screen, but the Ace has a nicer design, faster processor and better camera.

The speed, display quality and size of the phone make me wonder who would pay more for the "bigger version" - the SIII.

The photos have an excellent amount of detail, they have very little noise, the exposure and white balance are spot on and the colors look good (with the usual dose of oversaturation).

screen size

It has very good graphics, which is a nice bonus for the big screen.
Galaxy Y by Wiley (Sep, 2012)
The size is great, it's not too big, not too small and the screen is perfect enough.
Galaxy Ace by jlozano (Sep, 2012)

screen resolution

Samsung Galaxy Y
Samsung Galaxy Ace
There's a very low amount of detail, exposure is very bad and often you'll get too dark or way too bright pictures with undistinguishable objects in them and colors are way too dull.
Galaxy Y by GSM Arena (Sep, 2011)
The resolution is HVGA (340x480), and while the screen isn't (by far) rich in details, paired with the digitizer (I think that's the name of the capacitive input piece) it provides a very nice touch feedback.

I'm quite pleased with this cell phone because it has many improvements over version S5830 (ACE), in terms of speed (since it is dual core), ergonomics, screen and graphics, also has more storage memory for applications (rather negative aspect in the ACE version).

A lot of newer generations of phones goes towards bigger screens, higher camera resolutions, and so much apps and functions on phones that I barely, if ever, use (iPhones and even those from the very same Samsung brand are biggest offenders of this).
Galaxy Y by Armando-Inquig--Mr.-Mandy (Jun, 2012)
Features on the Galaxy S 4G include a 5-megapixel camera, a second front-facing camera, a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, and support for T-Mobile's 4G network.

It comes with Android 2.3 gingerbread and the processor speed is nice.
Galaxy Y by Jean-Lazaridis-Jr. (Sep, 2012)
Never mind the higher clock speed, Qualcomm processors aren't famous for wide video codec support.
Galaxy Ace by GSM Arena (Jan, 2012)

browser benchmark

Samsung Galaxy Y
Samsung Galaxy Ace
On the plus side, you get a relatively fast CPU, 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS, a solid browser (which lacks Flash, but still) and even a doc viewer.
Galaxy Y by GSM Arena (Sep, 2011)
Regardless, it’s still readable and panning and zooming are fast so the Galaxy Ace scores a good mark in web browsing.
Galaxy Ace by GSM Arena (Feb, 2011)

download speed

&T uses 850MHz), but since I just need the phone for the day I leave and the day I land it isn't a huge deal to me to be stuck on EDGE data speeds.

talk time

670 min
I had to immediately boost that to $30.00 a month so I could receive "data"....which was mostly my apps updating themselves....too few megabytes of data offered along with way too many minutes of talk time ( I'm not that social).
Galaxy Y by Michael-C.-Panknin (Jan, 2013)
If you stick to 2G you get up to 16 h 20 min of talk time or 670 h of stand-by.

Simple games like solitaire are great, but games like Angry Birds are best played on something with a bigger screen, though.

Radio, 2 cameras, Android 2.3.6, and all the apps you could shake a narwhal at.

I say little, because the screen is 3") and compared to other Samsung Galaxy phones, 3" screen is little.
