Under good lighting conditions, the videos have decent detail, although the combination of noise and compression take a lot of that away.

Given that many manufacturers are still pumping out 4.3-inch WVGA (480 x 800) devices, it's fantastic that Sony has put so many pixels on such a small display without compromising on quality.

Powering the Xperia P along is a dual-core 1GHz chip (the NovaThor U8500 with Mali-400MP graphics, to be precise), which may sound a little weedy compared to the quad core, 1.5GHz models topping the charts but in practise it's plenty fast enough.
Xperia P by TrustedReviews (Aug, 2012)
The phone feels really fast especially compared to my Nexus One (as expected for a dual-core device).

Sure it only has a 5 megapixel resolution, but there is near-zero shutter time on this phone, and all of my pictures came out very clearly.

Aside from the brightness, the display performs as an IPS should: viewing angles are near 180 degrees and colors are accurate however oblique the angle.

The 5-megapixel shooter on the device is most definitely capable of taking great looking photos, and that's aided by a super-fast auto focus (with tap-to-focus as well), consistent face detection, and a generally forgiving sensor.

But, the resolution is a step above the 480 x 800 panels that were standard a year ago and combined with the modest 4in screen size it makes for a screen that's plenty sharp enough for a nice experience whether web browsing, reading emails, watching video or playing games.

It's worth bearing in mind, though, that some phones do offer other advantages, such as the HTC Evo 3D's 3D camera and screen, the Motorola Razr's super slim design and solid build and the Motorola Atrix's clever laptop docks.
