Rated 90% by by TrustedReviews (Sep, 2012)It weighs just 110g and with dimensions of 112 x 54 x 12mm it’s an easy fit in the hand.
by GSM Arena (Apr, 2012)The phone remains relatively compact, despite the increase in screen size.
Conclusion Which is better for you?
Features Key features of the Sony Xperia U compared to the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2
GHz1
Android 2.3 Gingerbread 3.5G
by GSM Arena (Jun, 2012)Sure it's not the slim sweetness of the Xpera ray, but the Xperia U is still nicely compact and the transparent strip, which changes its color to match the screen contents, is a cool accent.
0.8 GHz
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean 3.5G
Rated 80% by by jlozano (Sep, 2012)The size is great, it's not too big, not too small and the screen is perfect enough.
screen size
3.5"
3.8"
Xperia U by TrustedReviews (Sep, 2012)We mentioned that the screen of the Sony Xperia U isn’t all that big but while it certainly doesn’t rival the big guns for watching video or playing games it’s actually perfectly adequate for everything else.
Galaxy Ace 2 by TrustedReviews (Aug, 2012)Touch focusing is responsive, but the shutter button is a little small, and with a large thumb the phone will often think you're trying to focus on the edge of the screen rather than attempting to snag a snap.
screen resolution
Xperia U by Henry (Oct, 2012)The clarity of the screen is very nice with 480 x 854 pixels, 3.5 inches (~280 ppi pixel density).
Galaxy Ace 2 by GSM Arena (Jul, 2012)Still colors are nicely balanced and the detail is enough for the Ace 2 to be considered a good shooter in times of need.
memory

processor
Xperia U by c|net (Feb, 2012)The Xperia P and Xperia U both run dual-core CPUs and sport the snazzy design found on the Xperia S. The devices are expected to ship this week in Spain; they'll also feature NFC chips and strong multimedia capabilities.
Galaxy Ace 2 by Camilo (Apr, 2013)I'm quite pleased with this cell phone because it has many improvements over version S5830 (ACE), in terms of speed (since it is dual core), ergonomics, screen and graphics, also has more storage memory for applications (rather negative aspect in the ACE version).
camera resolution
| 0 MP | 5 MP | 5 MP |
Xperia U by The Verge (Jul, 2012)It’s a VGA (0.3 megapixel) unit, but handled a few low-light Skype conversations reasonably well.
Galaxy Ace 2 by Andres-Hernandez (Nov, 2012)Very good phone, excellent screen resolution, no lag whatsoever, and the camera does the job.
Performance Real world tests of Sony Xperia U vs Samsung Galaxy Ace 2
cpu speed
Xperia U by Valentin-FilipovDespite being very nice with a bright screen and great processor speed on wifi, it didn't work on the T-Mobile frequencies.
talk time
336 min
450 min
Xperia U by Cec (Aug, 2012)I want to add something about the battery, this phone has a battery Standard battery, Li-Ion of 1320 mAh (not a big issue), don't know why they didn't put something better, but is ok, if you install some apps like: Defender Juice and specially Easy Battery Saver, any android phone will last longer, like twice the time.
Galaxy Ace 2 by GSM Arena (Jul, 2012)If you stick to 2G you get up to 16 h 20 min of talk time or 670 h of stand-by.

storage
Sony Xperia U | by GSM Arena (Jun, 2012)With a bigger 3.8" screen and a microSD card slot, it can match the Xperia U in terms of speed and performance and even get a slight edge in overall experience thanks to the more functional TouchWiz launcher.
Sony Xperia U | by GSM Arena (Jun, 2012)The obvious catch here is the Sony Xperia U limited storage, but if that's a deal-breaker to you we should've lost you at the intro.
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 | by GSM Arena (Jul, 2012)Overall, if the limited storage is of no consequence we'd go for the Xperia U (which should also get ICS next month).
screen
Sony Xperia U | by GSM Arena (Jun, 2012)Once connected, a standard mouse pointer appears enabling mouse operation, but it isn't very useful on the small screen of the Xperia U. It's still good to have though.
Sony Xperia U | Rated 90% by by TrustedReviews (Sep, 2012)Detail is reasonable but the Sony Xperia U over emphasises the dullness of this day.
Sony Xperia U | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Jul, 2012)The only issue I take with the visual experience the Xperia U offers is that the display is too small.
design
Sony Xperia U | Rated 90% by by TrustedReviews (Sep, 2012)Unsurprisingly, where the Xperia U feels most budget is in its design and build, but not in the way you’d expect.
Sony Xperia U | by GSM Arena (Jun, 2012)The Sony Xperia U specs sheet reads like a high-end device for the most part and the design of the smartphone easily manages to keep pace.
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 | by GSM Arena (Jul, 2012)At first glance the Sony Xperia U is the logical choice, for its slightly faster CPU and cooler curved design.
cpu
Sony Xperia U | by GSM Arena (Jun, 2012)The Xperia U matched its more expensive competition here, only laggin behind the One S and its newer Krait cores.
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 | by GSM Arena (Jul, 2012)The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is powered by a NovaThor U8500 chipset with a dual-core processor, though clocked lower than the 1GHz minimum we're used to seeing.
Sony Xperia U | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Jul, 2012)The Xperia U, as previously mentioned, shares the same 1GHz dual-core ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 processor and Mali-400 GPU as the Xperia P. While the SoC powers the P just fine, I found that the Xperia U's less-demanding FWVGA display actually makes it a more powerful device in everyday use.
touch
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 | by GSM Arena (Jul, 2012)It addresses the limited storage and the smaller screen issues, but doesn't look quite as good as the Xperia U and its highly promoted floating touch feature turned out to be pretty useless in real life.
Sony Xperia U | by GSM Arena (Jun, 2012)Thanks to the proximity sensor, the Sony Xperia U automatically disables the touchscreen when you hold it up to your ear during a call.
