Keep your iPad 2. Do some research on other brands of tablets and then if you still want an iPad, wait until a new version comes out. The screen is nice but not worth the difference in price.
Which tablet do you recommend for KevinW?

Stick with the iPad 2 until it dies, the Retina Screen is great, but unless your wallet is exploding with money, save yourself some money and keep the iPad 2.

it really depends on what you use the iPad for, if you like your pictures and movies the n the retina screen will really make you happy. And also the new A5X chip really improves 3d gaming if your'e into that (retina screen helps here too). But speed wise the iPad 2 & 3 are nearly exactly the same because they have the same processor.

I would suggest that you keep your current iPad, unless something in it breaks. The retina display is a big improvement, but Apple has been releasing a new iPad every year in March since 2010. I've got a pretty good feeling they'll be releasing the next generation again in March.
So if you can hold out another six months or so, you can either upgrade to the newest one then, or buy the 3rd gen which will drop in price as soon as the next gen comes out.

If you want a truly beautiful screen get the Nexus 10 and drop Apple altogether

If you can afford it go for the iPad3. Once you know thatthere is a better version of something out there you'll never be really happy unless you have it. Believe just to look at the screen is to love it. everything is sharper and you'll be the proud owner of the latest iPad!

Beginner I8 months ago David-TraversActually coming out at the same price range as the iPad3 go for the latest iPad4 which is due out on 1 Dec 2012. Has the Retina screen, plus a lightning connecter like the iphone5, not the 30-pin plug. The camera is also improved and it has the latest A6X processor which improves performance. Wow!

If you think the iPad 2 is still fast for your needs and the screen still looks good, then you should keep the iPad 2 and wait for the next iPad, since those are the only big things that the iPad 3 improved on.
If you think that your iPad is getting slow and the videos don't look as good as you want it to be, then the upgrade just might be worth it...if you get it for the right price. However, the iPad 2 being slow and the display looking bad is very unlikely since it's still as good as other high-end tablets.

As for me, you don't need to upgrade each time there is a new model launched. Weigh the features that you need and usually use in your iPad. Then when it breaks down, you'll have the idea what's the next model you'll need to buy. If Apple it happens to launched another newer model of iPad, then that's gonna be a bonus for you.

I suggest you stay with your iPad 2 first. I've been hearing some issues going on regarding iPad 3rd gen especially on its wi-fi capability and its high temperature under continuous gaming. You may want to wait until your iPad 2 wears off or wait until these iPad 3rd Gen issues are resolved. If you are lucky, by the time your iPad 2 dies, there might be iPad 4th Gen already available in the market.

I'd stick with the iPad 2. I personally don't think the Retina Screen is worth the price of upgrading, especially because you already have an iPad.
