If my Coby had at least Honeycomb and a multi touch screen it would be a far better tablet for far better price than this one.

I use it as a Kindle ereader - the screen size is better for me than kindle or nook.

I doubt that 2 onces changes the feel much, but not having the screen issues is a big plus.

The 80 G9 includes only one, front-facing camera, for which Archos hasn't released the megapixel spec.

Archos increased the RAM by 50% (Archos, you need to go to 1GB or more!!!) which greatly improved the responsiveness of the device; add in the dual core CPU and you end up with a very nice product.
80 G9 by Jackie-W.-Mullins--kb5ynf (Oct, 2011)
Instead of using an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor like previous Honeycomb tablets, the 80 G9 is the first Honeycomb tablet to use the 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4 dual-core processor.

The Archos 80 G9 uses a 1,024x768-pixel-resolution capacitive touch screen with an MVA panel.

Bluetooth is handy especially for music playback... it has a micro sd card slot, thought we would miss having a host usb port, not an issue.
Rated 100% by by H.-moore (Jan, 2012)
On a long bus/plane trip, it has enough juice (fully charged, with wifi and gyroscope off, screen just bright enough to be legible, and volume down low enough to be audible, only running the video program) to play a movie and a half.
Rated 60% by by byrnsey24 (Aug, 2012)
There is no option to do so, and no other apps like apps2sd will work, either.

Screen

The 8" screen is sharp and clear and this tablet has all the "bells and whistles" as other tablets at half the price.
Archos 80 G9 8 GB | Rated 100% by by Harriet (Jan, 2012)
The display is much nicer 70 with a brighter screen and better viewing angle as compared to the Archos.
Archos 80 G9 8 GB | Rated 80% by by Gadgetman (Feb, 2012)
Viewing angles are far superior to Archos's previous efforts, whose pictures would fade into darkness when viewed from the wrong spot.

Battery

Then it finally shut down on its own even though it was charged up it would not turn on, would not take a charge even after all night trying to charge.
Archos 80 G9 8 GB | Rated 20% by by M.-d (Feb, 2012)
I was able to use it for only a few hours before a full re-charge is needed.

I've played with my dad's iPad, and I much prefer this size for playing games and listening to music.

There are so many apps available (I use Amazon) for free or very low cost I'm hooked on the Business Calendar which syncs to my laptop automatically every time I get on line.

Operating System

It seems to me that anyone expecting premium sound quality from an android tablet's speakers is asking way too much.

I'm very happy with it and I'm very happy with Android.

Over the past year, I've had several Android tablets (I work in IT and test new devices to better help my users and being a geek, I like to play with new equipment).

Battery life

I've had this for several months and it is a nice tablet.....when it will actually charge and I'm able to use it!
Archos 80 G9 8 GB | Rated 20% by by Mack--Mack (Dec, 2012)
I has worried about this tablet was the battery life but with normal use you can have 15 hours of life if you are using the applications that come with the tablet, if you use different applications the battery will die quickly.
Archos 80 G9 8 GB | Rated 60% by by Reinel (Feb, 2012)
Battery life is good even though it has a hard drive.
