Of course, what really sets the Slider apart is the fact that you can slide the display upwards by lifting a small latch behind the top of the panel to reveal its physical keyboard.

We can't imagine too many people would want to gather a small crowd around a 10.1in screen to watch a film, but if that's your bag the Slider can handle it.

Asus includes an In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel for the 1,280x800-pixel-resolution, 10.1-inch screen, delivering wide viewing angles and a high and vibrant brightness.

Like the Transformer, the Slider’s 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800-resolution IPS display is very high quality and quite impressive for the price.
Eee Pad Slider by The Verge (Sep, 2011)
Like virtually all 10.1in Android tablets, the Slider uses a 1280x800 pixel resolution, resulting in a 149dpi pixel density, which is almost 20dpi higher than the iPad 2 (rarely have we longed for a rumour to be true as much as we longed for the iPad 2's Retina Display screen).

The front-facing 1.2-megapixel shooter is what you’d expect — you’re not going to want to take your new Facebook Timeline shot with this, but it is fine for video chatting or checking your teeth for food.
Eee Pad Slider by The Verge (Sep, 2011)
It's this notion that convinces us, even more so than usual, that the 5-megapixel camera on the back is mostly redundant.

+ Very fast... dual core processor is great, and 8 core graphics chip is amazing.
Eee Pad Slider by Benjamin-M.-Bethel--Owner-General-Manager---The-Clarendon-Hotel (Oct, 2011)
A dual-core 1GHz processor should be able to handle 720p video with relative ease.

Performance Real world tests of Asus Eee Pad Slider

cpu speed

Although it uses the same Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor as the majority of Honeycomb tablets, it's unusually smooth and lag-free.
Eee Pad Slider by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
For the most part, performance is on par with the other dual-core Honeycomb tablets, meaning the internals are peppy enough to push along the OS and a number of applications.

+ Battery life is awesome - with heavy use I'm getting at least 8 hours and have yet to run out of juice.
Eee Pad Slider by Benjamin-M.-Bethel--Owner-General-Manager---The-Clarendon-Hotel (Oct, 2011)
Battery life for video is respectable, a full charge providing around seven and a half hours of looped playback of a standard definition DivX file, at 50 per cent brightness - which was more than enough for comfortable indoor viewing.

The user-facing 1.3-megapixel camera is much more useful, letting you use Android video chat apps and Photobooth-style fun apps.

As I mentioned before the sliding mechanism feels quite solid — the metal sheet that props up the back of the screen and the spring feels very taut — and there’s no wobble to the screen once it’s in keyboard mode.

Rounding out the connections along the right spine are a headphone jack and full-size USB 2.0 slot.

+ Android operating system, just the best out there for a tablet, great little thumb controls on the browser - you have to turn this feature on, but once you do your browser window becomes full screen, just slide your thumb in from the edge of the screen and this really cool touch interface pops up.

I love the size, weight, and keyboard of the slider.

Android 3.2 runs like a dream, and I actually love the Asus launcher (typically, I use LauncherPro exclusively) - they've included some thoughtful features like a battery-centric live wallpaper and helpful media consolidation apps.

Screen

The 10.1in, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS screen is also excellent with vivid colours, deep blacks and great viewing angles.

Comparing fairly well to the standards set by Apple's original iPad back in 2010, it uses an IPS display that offers fantastic viewing angles and excellent overall performance.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 80% by by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
The screen is absolutely beautiful - as striking as any tablet I've seen.

Operating system

It’s more than capable at multitasking, though I have to say I wish Honeycomb handled navigation between multiple programs better.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 64% by by The Verge (Sep, 2011)
Other than all that, you’re looking at the familiar Honeycomb experience, and as I mentioned above, the keyboard plays quite well with the operating system, morphing the device into more of a workhorse than most of the tablets out there.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 64% by by The Verge (Sep, 2011)
Of course, before I end the software section, I need to add the now-standard Honeycomb ecosystem note.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 64% by by The Verge (Sep, 2011)

Size

The added size and weight of the keyboard will severely limit the audience for this device, unlike the more versatile Eee Pad Transformer.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 80% by by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
It's also quite large - deceptively so considering the thick bezel around it.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 80% by by Daniel-Wilson (Sep, 2011)
It is also pretty thick, but again I wanted something with some body.

Type

Android Honeycomb's browser is good, the tablet supports full Adobe Flash, the capacitive touchscreen is very responsive and the keyboard comes in handy when typing emails and web addresses.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 80% by by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
Several alternatives are available from the Android Market, but we found it sufficient for most uses, with an attractive and clear interface.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 80% by by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
Like any Android device, Honeycomb is split into two main sections.

Battery

The battery life is also much longer than my laptop.
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 100% by by Kallel_S (Oct, 2011)
+ Angle - the angle this opens to is perfect if you're using this on your lap or on a table... but I'm an odd person in that I love taking baths all the time and have a little Ikea laptop table just on the other side of the bath tub, and I go through a good hour to two hours of use 3-5 times a week while in the tub (not while plugged in)!
Asus Eee Pad Slider 32 GB, Mocha | Rated 100% by by Benjamin-M.-Bethel--Owner-General-Manager---The-Clarendon-Hotel (Oct, 2011)
Asus recommends turning this off though as, perhaps ironically; it drains the battery something fierce.
