In addition to having fully functional operating system, the samsung quick launch interface- which more or less mimics what you might see on an apple tablet- is a very solid/reliable touch interface.

The slate claims to have 11 in screen, sounds big, but actually due to its non regular shape and resolution, I found a lot of webpages cannot be displayed correctly if used vertically, it can only display part of web on the screen and you have to move the slide bar left and right to see the whole website, very inconvenient.
Series 7 11.6" Slate by Zhou-Zhiliang--Joe (Jun, 2012)
A good news is that the AMOLED screen is really bright and I am able to work with about 40% brightness, and this prolongs the battery life to some extent.

I had a webcam in 1998 that produced better video and still pictures than the camera on this system.

With a dual core processor it was adequate for it's intended purpose, which was to be as paperless as possible.

Very nice bright screen; camera and audio are not brilliant but pretty decent; battery life is not amazing but not bad either.

Since I keep my docs, pictures and music on a microSD card, I did a complete restore which I was pleased to see, erased Samsung's redundant, bloated "Touch" software, freeing up quite a bit of valuable SSD storage space.

This device weighs around 2 pounds, so it's easy to carry.

It is easy to configure, the docking station works great and Windows 8 and Office professional work exceptionally well on the machine.

Screen

The Samsung Slate is has a larger screen than most Slates or Tablets, which is nice, but it's hard to find a case that fits.

Handwriting recognition is also outstanding; I'm torn as to weather it is faster to use the on-screen keyboard or handwriting to quickly enter a web URL.

Operating System

It is beautifully made, and it feels like the best Windows 7 could be on a tablet.

My main target was to get a Windows laptop with lowest weight, with Intel WiDi and at least core i5 which should be mobile too.

The hardware still beats almost all (products that I've seen) of the new Windows 8 tablets being released now.

Operating system

Having said that Windows 8 is definitely for the techie community and has some bumpy spots, but come release day they will have a very competitive product with IOS and Android.

If you are looking for a tablet but don't want to make the switch to Android or iOS, the Series 7 is an excellent alternative.

The dual touch/wacom screen makes it a great tool for accomplishing this, and I was hoping to use it as a true tablet as well.
