Android 3.2 Honeycomb

Back view of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7
The 3.2-megapixel camera on the back isn't particularly high-res, but does all right, and the 2-megapixel front-facing shooter is actually better than its equivalent on most tablets.

The size is one of the best thing about the Ipad, it's neither too big nor too small and the screen is big, bright and clear and there's just so much you can do.

Galaxy Tab 7.7 by The Verge (Mar, 2012)
The screen is great for reading in dark and well lighted areas and the text unless very small is easy to read.

Images and video recorded with the front camera looked as if there were a deliberate film grain placed over it, and not in a cool, artsy kind of way, but more of the, "Hey, there seems to be some film grain on this video, can we please get rid of it?

The front camera can also be used for (VGA) video recording of up to 30 frames per second with audio, as well as still camera pictures.

Galaxy Tab 7.7 by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
I agree that because applications are similar and they both share the same iOS, the experience might not seem that different, but once you get your hands on it, the bigger screen, the dual core processor, larger memory and longer battery result in much much better overall experience.

Performance Real world tests of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 vs Apple iPad 2

cpu speed

Both tablets use the Exynos 4210 CPU, which in terms of speed hits somewhere between the Tegra 2 and Tegra 3 chips.
Galaxy Tab 7.7 by c|net (Nov, 2011)
Speed: the iPad is super quick with its A5 processor, running apps like a charm and browsing the Internet sometimes faster than my laptop.

battery life

10 hour
10 hour
The former is a much more understandable decision given the tablet's size but the latter is agrrevating as it means you always need that cable and that cable only to charge this device.
Galaxy Tab 7.7 by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
The iPad's device features, such as Bluetooth 2.1 (A2DP, EDR), Wi-Fi 802.11 n, 3G, and 10 hours of battery life, are all here, and in many cases are still the bar by which other tablets are judged.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 from Verizon features an impressive AMOLED screen with an incredible contrast ratio.

Editors' note (October 23, 2012): While Apple now sells a fourth-generation iPad with a faster A6X processor and a Lightning connector and a smaller 7.9-inch iPad Mini, the 16GB iPad 2 reviewed here remains on the market ($399 for the Wi-Fi version, $529 for the AT&T 3G or Verizon 3G version).

screen

If you've ever used an iPhone or iPod Touch, the iPad 2 will feel immediately familiar.

That said, the Galaxy Tab 7.7's 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED Plus display makes a really good case for that number two slot.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Mar, 2012)
Typically the differences between models are slight — a slightly larger or smaller screen, a new processor, or a thinner chassis — but Samsung took some bigger steps with the new Galaxy Tab 7.7: it’s the first Galaxy Tab to have a Super AMOLED Plus display, the same screen so many people love in Samsung’s Galaxy S II phones.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Mar, 2012)

type

It’s incredibly hard to recommend the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (or any other Android tablet) over an iPad at the moment, simply because there are so many more good apps available on Apple’s tablet — and there’s no sign that the balance will shift anytime soon.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Mar, 2012)
If you really want an Android tablet, you'll love the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (especially when it gets Android 4.0), but without a more stable OS it’s not the best tablet out there in any conversation — ICS-equipped devices like the Transformer Prime are a smarter buy, and none of them compare to the iPad.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Mar, 2012)
I have no iphone or ipod touch, I have a imac 21.5, a white macbook and ipod classic, then this was my first experience with IOS, which is super easy to use.
Apple iPad 2 16 GB, WiFi + Verizon 3G, White | Rated 80% by by gmez (Aug, 2011)

weight

The Tab 7.7 is much thinner than the 7.0 Plus, and at 12 ounces it’s almost exactly the same weight despite being physically much larger.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Mar, 2012)
Samsung claims the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the slimmest and lightest Android tablet going and with official figures of 7.89mm thick and 335g in weight (nearly half an iPad 2), we have little reason to disbelieve the company.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)

thickness

At 7.87mm thick, the Tab 7.7 is barely a tenth of a millimeter thicker than the Toshiba Excite 10 LE, the thinnest tablet we’ve seen yet, and Toshiba would do well to take a page from Samsung's book with regards to build quality — Toshiba trades quality for thinness in ways Samsung obviously doesn’t have to.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Mar, 2012)
The height and width may look similar, but in terms of thickness, the iPad has done some dieting, shrinking from 13.4mm thick on the original model to 8.8mm thick for the iPad 2.
Apple iPad 2 16 GB, WiFi + Verizon 3G, White | Rated 83% by by c|net (Mar, 2011)

resolution

Loads of settings are placed along the left side of the screen, so changing white balance or resolution is only a tap or two away.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 4G LTE 16GB | Rated 74% by by The Verge (Mar, 2012)
1280 x 800 is on the other hand a totally acceptable resolution for a 7.7-inch display — if not exactly standard-setting anymore — and though it's still possible to make out individual pixels or see some jaggies on small text, reading or watching videos is much more pleasant on the Galaxy Tab 7.7 than almost any other Android tablet.
