Priced at $530 with 16GB of storage, or $600 for 32GB, Toshiba evidently feels that its tablet's iPad-besting thickness and weight deserve a slightly higher price than the competition.

Default view of Toshiba Excite 10 LE
It's bright and accurate, viewing angles are excellent, with virtually no discoloration even far off-axis, and while you can definitely make out individual pixels and see some jaggies on small text, it's not enough to be a huge problem unless you're really looking for it.

At 7.7mm, it really is impressively thin, slimmer than any tablet we've seen regardless of screen size.

The good things: The ablitiy to load pages from the web well, having falsh player, I can practically watch any movie file type, listen music, screen size, color and brightness are a big bonus.

The sky isn't as vivid a blue as the real thing, and zooming-in on these shots shows they don't offer enough detail to print out at a decent size.

Neither of them is particularly great, and several people we handed the tablet to mistook the front camera (circled in chrome) for a home button.

The Tab has a front-facing 2.0 megapixel (vs iPad 2's 0.3 megapixel) camera and rear-facing 3.0 megapixel (vs iPad 2's 0.7 megapixel) camera.

The tablet includes the Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core processor and navigating feels just as zippy here as it did on any previous Honeycomb tablet.

In practice, largely because frequent crashes are a fact of life with the Excite, I got more like four hours of battery on a charge.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no excuse at this point to ship a Honeycomb tablet, but that's what you get with the Excite 10 LE.

The 3 megapixel camera and its LED flash are positioned on the on the top rear of the slab, and it's actually one of the better shooters I've seen on a tablet.

Given the Excite's price and the context of other 10-inch Android tablets on the market or on the horizon, Toshiba's tablet isn't offering the best value.

Taking another page from the iPad 2's school of sexy tablet building, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has one of the cleanest designs we've seen in a tablet.

The front facing camera was fine, BUT when i took pictures with the back camera (inside and out pics) the quality was VERY POOR to say the least.

Toshiba hit the mark with the Excite 10 LE, but the costs are staggering: it feels poorly built despite its excellent materials, performs as poorly as any "high-end" tablet I've tested recently, and does it all in a package that's more expensive than much of its competition.

Being thin isn't all it's cracked up to be Good materials, badly assembledNice to look at, not to touch The iPad proved tablets can have decent camerasHoneycomb's problems are on full display Nothing seems to work right Thin isn't worth the tradeoffs First it was the Toshiba AT200, then it was the Excite X10, and now it's the Excite 10 LE.

sunspider

Our benchmarks mirrored my experience, showing a tablet that's a long way behind its competition: Quadrant results were less than half of those of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and its Sunspider results were seriously sub-par as well — that is, when it could actually complete the whole test without failing.

contrast

Overall, display quality is pretty good, though not as bright or as crisp as on the new iPad, and lacking the contrast of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Asus Transformer Prime.
