LG LK450

  • 42" 1080p LCD
  • 60 Hz
Released March, 2011
The viewing angle is pretty good on the IPS, colors stay the same even from an extreme angle, although you'll see the white backlight more, still very much viewable.

Overall: Nice TV and so far so good, but I'm wondering if I would have been better off to pony up the extra $100-$200 for an LED-backlit model since this TV runs 14+ hours a day?

We performed a hands-on evaluation of the LG 42LK450, but this review also applies to the other screen sizes in the series.

This set looks just as good, and its very hard to see the size difference between the two screens.

It's pretty slim as well, and looks good.

It is as thin as I could wish, and the plain black border is pleasant.

Unlike the Samsung LND550 series the LK450 lacks an Ethernet port so it can't do the same via DLNA over a home network.

Picture quality- I am not that big of a picture snob, so I consider this picture to be really damn good.

I've been playing PS3 games on it constantly and I cannot see where 120hz could improve the picture.

Panel

Overall, the color and resolution is great and so is the sound.
LG LK450 42" | Rated 100% by by Philip-Russick (Jul, 2011)
There are some reviews out there which are skeptical of the blackness of the picture and quality of moving pictures with the 60hz refresh rate - but I couldn't be happier.

I also have family members who have a large screen LG TV and it is excellent.

Video

I'm a novice at calibrating the TV but the built-in self calibration wizard is great, it looks a lot better than the standard settings.
LG LK450 42" | Rated 100% by by An-T.-Lam--Andrew-L (Jun, 2011)
For the size and the 1080P, the picture is surprizing awesome and only 60HZ.
LG LK450 42" | Rated 100% by by DaddyWayne (Dec, 2011)
Sound and video quality are vastly superior to the 40" RCA I had before (which was $50 more than this)!

Audio quality

The sound quality is excellent and loud, and even better if you select "Infinite Sound" (Surround Sound) under AUDIO OPTIONS.
LG LK450 42" | Rated 100% by by Thursday-Trader (Dec, 2011)
Sound is good for a flat screen, better than many others, but if your turn on the simulated surround sound (which is pretty nice) you cannot have "Clearvoice", which is also a nice audio feature.
LG LK450 42" | Rated 80% by by Vermont-Ken--Vermont-Intruder1400 (Mar, 2012)
The built-in speakers are better than I expected, of course not great they're very decent and fine for light TV watching.
