It's a great TV if you don't use Netflix or if you use a Blu-Ray player or some other device to stream Netflix to the TV.

Plasma

Netflix streams nicely and the picture is good for their HD content and subpar for non-HD.

The picture on this new set is much better, possibly because of the larger screen size.
VIERA ST30 by D.-Howard (Dec, 2011)
The picture on this TV is very hard to beat and cost less than any LED flat screen of the same size, even the off brands.
VIERA ST30 by QuickDraw (Jul, 2011)

Panasonic VIERA ST30
Samsung 6400 Series
LG LV5500
It yields a fuller, richer sound than most thin TVs.

power consumption

Panasonic VIERA ST30
LG LV5500
LG LK450
We did not test the power consumption of this size in the Panasonic TC-PST30 series, but we did test the 50-inch model.
VIERA ST30 by c|net (May, 2011)
To be fair, the major disadvantages of plasmas have been power consumption and brightness, and are largely overcome in the current crop of Panasonic plasmas.
VIERA ST30 by R.-L.-Johnson (Jun, 2011)

black levels

Panasonic VIERA ST30
LG LK450
Panasonic VIERA UT50
Dark shadow detail is superb, and black levels look saturated though not the best we've seen.
VIERA ST30 by LCDTVBuyingGuide
Don't get me wrong the S30 looks great but in my opinion the ST30 displays better black levels and improved depth of picture.
VIERA ST30 by Nicholas-Righton (Mar, 2012)

contrast ratio

Panasonic VIERA ST30
LG LV5500
LG LK450
I chose this because it had a better black level and higher contrast ratio, albiet not very bright.
VIERA ST30 by Bleumonk
The screen has a relatively good anti-reflective screen, making it better in natural light settings than most of the high end LEDs that have all moved to reflective screens to increase contrast ratios.

The ST30's 3D picture quality was very good overall but compared to the other 2011 3D TVs in our lineup, it was our least favorite.

Resolution is pretty good, even up close; this set pulls double duty for me as a big, beautiful MacBook Air monitor (using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable for Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro... and an AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable (9.8 Feet/3.0 Meters) - Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return [Newest Standard)].

Regular HDTV cable is great; bluray DVDs are absolutely fantastic.

In conclusion I will be keeping this tv because it is beyond awesome for Gaming and I'm sure I will look online for the best settings for Movies and Regular Programs and come back and update my review.

Panel

The picture is excellent and the 3d works very well, though I'm not a huge 3d fan.
Panasonic VIERA ST30 55" | Rated 100% by by Justin-Hall--HereorThere (Mar, 2012)
Very good crisp picture, I'm yet to use 3d feature, still in the market for a blue ray 3d dvd.
Panasonic VIERA ST30 55" | Rated 100% by by Travlin-Man (Dec, 2011)
LED/LCD. First, I liked the true to life feel of plasma vs. LED's "soap opera" effect.
Panasonic VIERA ST30 55" | Rated 100% by by Jon-Morris (Feb, 2012)

Picture quality

The picture is bright and clear, motion smooth, and the image crisp.
Panasonic VIERA ST30 55" | Rated 100% by by David-A.-Hobt--DAHobt (Feb, 2012)
It now has a terrific picture with great color, overall detail, and dark detail.
Panasonic VIERA ST30 55" | Rated 100% by by MSgtGrif
It's still in the "break in" period and the picture is fanstastic - crisp, good and seemingly accurate color.

Type

If you're trying to decide between LCD and plasma, and you want the best picture quality at the best price, get the plasma-and get the Panasonic.

Overall, I am totally happy with the Panasonic TC-P65ST30 plasma TV, and Amazon certainly aced it with price and the free delivery.

It is a better tested technology than LED/LCD and picture quality is amazing.

3d

The glasses are nice because while in 3D mode, you can't watch it with naked eyes, but the glasses can view it in 3D or 2D mode, nice feature If I want to watch in 3D but others do not.
Panasonic VIERA ST30 55" | Rated 40% by by Kevin-Shirey--SineQuaNon (Jan, 2012)
I have not bought glasses to view 3D but being this is my first TV purchase in 20 years, I decided to overbuy as far as technology, postponing the significant glasses purchase for when I need an additional viewing thrill.
Panasonic VIERA ST30 55" | Rated 100% by by Headbolt (Dec, 2011)
