We performed a hands-on evaluation of the 55-inch Samsung UN55D8000, but this review also applies to the other screen sizes in the series.
8000 Series (2011 LCD) by c|net (Apr, 2011)
I purchased the Samsung UN65D8000 because of its size and edge less design for the screen.

There is no denying that this TV looks beautiful with it's thin edge and it's slim design makes it look fantastic when you out it on the wall.
8000 Series (2011 LCD) by Stephen-Gates--Steve-G
With that said, the sound from this TV is pretty good...considering how thin it is, but I wouldn't crank it.

I am amazed with the black levels that this set produce which contrast well will the vibrant colors that the set produces.
8000 Series (2011 LCD) by Flyer215 (Aug, 2011)
In the course of our calibration we were able to basically nail color accuracy, even in near-black, and improve shadow detail and gamma somewhat, the former at the expense of some black level.

While Samsung's Movie mode delivered the most accurate picture prior to our adjustments, it was still overly blue with too-bright gamma and crushed shadow detail, albeit with extremely dark blacks.

I really can't say enough about the quality of the design, the clarity of the picture, the ease of the setup (everything is plug n play).
Rated 100% by by Sim (Feb, 2012)
The picture quality is just amazing... In fact, I watched several episodes of NCIS (from 2003) on USA HD... The quality was far superior to anything I've seen before.
Rated 100% by by Rohit (Dec, 2011)
Whoever is looking at this TV for home, I would certainly recommend to also think of a good set of surround speakers to really make it count.

Panel

The 8000 series TV's come with two free pairs of 3D glasses, which, from what I've read, is about a $300 value.

3d

The 3D is actually pretty decent; I watched NFL on 3D and I think I prefer watching it on 2D.

I connected the TV to my stereo system but only use it for movies and sports.

Upscaling DVD players won't play Blu-ray movies, but it will make your old DVDs look much better, sometimes even rivaling Blu-ray (depending on the quality of the original DVD recording).

Bezel

From the moment we saw this TV in the store we thought it looked awesome, and now that it's in our home, man it looks great and we love that we just see the picture and there isn't a huge bezel around it.
Samsung 8000 Series (2011 LCD) 65" | Rated 100% by by C.-Young (Oct, 2011)
Not having a bezel (.9" is literally no bezel), makes the TV look like as if you are watching in a movie theatre and with such exceptional picture quality just breath taking.
Samsung 8000 Series (2011 LCD) 65" | Rated 80% by by D.-Janapa--Djei (Dec, 2011)
A big factor for me was the thin bezel, which allowed me to fit a 46" set into my 43" wide cabinet.

Oh it's too dark, it's too bright, too much color" But in another review, it's interpreted as "Deep beautiful blacks, crisp sharp illumination, dynamic popping refined colors.
