Black levels appeared deep and the backlight looked consistent; brightness levels were excellent for such a massive screen; HD images looked sharp and detailed; and colours looked punchy and accurate.

Thanks to the Energy Star ratings system, most LCDs use little more energy than a common lightbulb, and from here on in you won't actually see CNET power consumption data for them.

I was concerned about input lag (which is different from response time) and with out-of-the-box settings, there is a very noticeable lag.

As the TV has lower-than-average blacks it also looks better with the lights on and would suit larger groups watching the game, or even a gaming session, if Xbox is more your thing.

But as we walked away from Sharp’s stand already wondering which room we might best be able to accommodate one of its 80in TV in, it seemed to us that while Sharp’s message might not have bagged too many headlines from the CES, when it comes to cold, hard sales later in the year, Sharp’s gamble could end up paying off handsomely.

I bought this 80 inch Sharp Aquos right before the Super Bowl (6 months ago) and everyone is amazed how sharp and life-like the LED picture is, especially for such a large TV.

This television is totally amazing!! Picture is crystal clear!! We have had this for less than a week and are already spoiled by the amazing picture!!! We had this set wall mounted professionally and it is just awesome!

A pro I really love (besides the size) its the brightness of the colors!
Sharp AQUOS 632 Series 80" | Rated 80% by by nfleagle78 (Dec, 2011)
Despite our best efforts at adjustment, colors didn't look as natural as on the comparison TVs.
Sharp AQUOS 632 Series 80" | Rated 59% by by c|net (Mar, 2012)

Panel

Its picture looks more life-like than other LCD/LED TVs, and I think it's better than plasma.
Sharp AQUOS 632 Series 80" | Rated 100% by by Virtual-Andrew (Jan, 2012)
Viewing angles at closer distance are limited (this is not a fault of the set, when viewed from an appropriate 10+ feet the viewing angle is quite good) compared to a plasma, but this is true for most non IPS LCD displays.

It's no secret why you're here; the lure of an 80-inch flat-panel television is too great for anyone to resist.

Sharp AQUOS 632 Series 80" | Rated 100% by by T.-Sabo--Damgaard (Jul, 2011)
The PICTURE was perfect for Blue Ray and HD movies, now, if you are watching movies on say cable tv or non-HD format remember to put the tv to none HD mode, otherwise they will look like home made movies.

It does require some calibration and turning off some of the picture enhancers, but it can be tuned to deliver excellent color.

After I performed a DIY calibration of the set, the picture quality now looks amazing.
