it was well worth it to lose a little bit in screen size for a far superior picture!

I performed a hands-on evaluation of the 55-inch Panasonic TC-P55ST50, but this review also applies to the other screen sizes in the series.

black levels

Panasonic VIERA VT30
Panasonic VIERA LEW56
I can already tell the black levels are much better than the S2, the one sheet of glass is very cool, it's 1/2 or 1/3 the depth of my s2 - very thin for a 65" plasma.
VIERA VT30 by PeterUbers (Sep, 2011)
I found the stock black level to be very good, though the TV required some contrast and "Black Level Deepness" adjustments.

Panasonic plasma TVs always get highest ratings in reviews for the quality of the picture contrast ratio and so on.... Based on this I have decided to buy TCP55VT30 about 14 months ago.
VIERA VT30 by SoBe-305--chatham635
It is a pleasure to see the TV powering up, it looks fantastic even when it is turned off but when it comes on... wow, crystal clear.

The Panasonic VT30's main design improvement over the GT30 series is a single pane of glass that fronts the entire panel, eliminating the depth difference between the frame and the screen.

Included breakout cables support the one analog composite/component input, and there's a pair of USB ports and a rare SD card slot for media.

Watching blu-rays and playing games are incredible and blows away anything I expect to see in a reasonable price range for many years to come.

Games from my PS3 look exceptionally crisp and clear, my girlfriend and I were watching football this past Sunday and she mentioned a couple of times that some aspects of the actual games we watched reminded her of how good Madden on the PS3 looked while I was playing against my brother online.

The Samsung 2012 battery powered active 3D glasses work great with the TV if you aren't ready for the $50 Panasonic glasses.

The best that I've ever seen on a TV, and all my friends have commented on how great the picture quality is.

This TV has much less brightness (although with window shades it is plenty bright), and the colors doesn't seem artificial or enhanced.
