I was quite excited about receiving this TV from Amazon, and indeed the picture quality, contrast and black levels were superb.

If you don't need a "Smart TV" and want the absolute best looking picture of any brand or technology (LCD, LED, Plasma), then look no further.

thickness

Vizio E3D Series
Samsung 630 Series (2011)
The colors are vibrant and you will notice that there is much more depth to the picture.
E3D Series by J.-Widby (Jun, 2011)
The only drawback is the average sound quality which I guess is to be expected with slim TVs.

Performance Real world tests of Vizio E3D Series vs Samsung 630 Series (2011)

power consumption

Vizio E3D Series
Samsung 630 Series (2011)
The room the TV is in also has to be pretty darned dark or the power consumption will be higher: Depending on room lighting up to more than double the dark room draw.
E3D Series by Slo-Hand (Jun, 2011)
It fits in the space we had available, and we are happy with the picture and performance.

black levels

Samsung 630 Series (2011)
E3D Series 630 Series (2011) @ televisioninfo.com
i wouldn't really say this is a negative because something as simple as a light on in the room can make the black levels better.
E3D Series by Joao91 (Feb, 2012)
After all the picture tweaking I could handle, the tv always looked dull and washed out.
630 Series (2011) by Chris-B. (Aug, 2011)

contrast ratio

Vizio E3D Series
Samsung 630 Series (2011)
In the case of this Vizio CCFL TV, its lower contrast ratio actually makes for a picture that is, overall, far more uniform.
E3D Series by Kevin (Aug, 2011)
Keep coming back to the LN46D30 because of it's crystal clarity and bright, vivid colors.

I bought two more (in addition to the two that came with it) a few weeks into owning it, and the beauty of these TV's is that to my knowledge, any passive 3d glasses will work with it.

Fortunately for me, I won't be watching much 3d programming but if you want this set primarily for 3d use you may want to wait until a more energy efficient model for 3d becomes available.
Rated 80% by by Slo-Hand (Jun, 2011)
This tv has passive 3d, which means you don't have to wear big bulk electric glasses like you would with an active 3d tv.

We have only basic Comcast cable, but even without paying the extra for HD, the pictures on select channels are far superior to what I had experienced - crystal clear and I get far more channels than with old tv.

I am very happy with this TV (Samsung 46' LCD)... It has fantastic colors and requires very little adjustment (color tint) to my preferences.
