The good: Produces the deepest black levels of any large-screen display we've tested; extremely accurate color points and color temperature; superb antireflective screen; 72Hz refresh mode works well with 1080p/24 sources; Pure picture mode delivers superior settings out of the box; extensive picture controls; excellent connectivity, including 4 HDMI and one PC input; styling that's all business.

To me passive 3D gives a better viewing experience and getting extra 3D glasses is very cheap.

This is the greatest TV ever sold, I got a 3D blu-ray and the 3D on this TV is the best 3D picture I have ever seen.
Elite Pro-X5FD Series by Jon-R.-Chance (Jan, 2013)
I've read that passive 3D sets like mine cannot display as good a picture as active 3D sets, and some reviewers complain about jagged edges on diagonal objects and circles.

They are absolutely astounding, to the point that I was distracted by the depth when I first starting using the TV.
Elite Pro-X5FD Series by Mark-D (Oct, 2011)
Although graced with a single-pane face-meaning the bezel and the screen are fronted by one sheet of plastic-a transparent-edged frame, and a relatively thin bezel, the LG LW9800 ultimately isn't as stylish as competing TVs like Sony's monolithic XBR-HX929 or Samsung's stunning, all-picture UND8000.

Elite Pro-X5FD Series by Mark-D (Oct, 2011)

As a result the Elite maintained its advantage in perceived contrast ratio or "pop" over the non-Kuro plasmas in pretty much every scene, regardless of how dark, bright or mixed the content therein.

Out of the box, it performed well - bright sharp picture with rich color and deep blacks.

Colors near-black were excellent, with less of the bluish cast we saw on the Sony, and every bit as accurate as the plasmas.

The LW9800 did evince improved uniformity compared with the two 2010 LG local dimmers, as well as excellent color, but overall its 2D picture fell short of the best 2011 LEDs, including the Sony XBR-HX929 and Sony KDL-55NX720.

The TV converts 2D to 3D, and although not as real 3D, very impressive anyway....looks like you are looking out into a window watching things happen.

The set comes with 2 pairs of 3D glasses and the 3D is an awesome experience in your own living room.

Then I purchased Elite 60X5FD and I am very excited about this TV in terms of its overall quality (high quality picture, simple and elegant appearance, quality exterior materials, and easy to operate).

sharpness

Sharp's inclusion of a 4th pixel color on their other AQUOS actually makes it to the Elite and does a fine job.
Sharp Elite Pro-X5FD Series 60" | Rated 100% by by Maek (Mar, 2012)
We asked Sharp to pinpoint the exact number of dimming zones but the company declined, saying only that the 60-inch Elite has more than 216 zones-the number LG quoted us for the LW9800-while the 70-inch Elite has "significantly more" than the 60-incher.
Sharp Elite Pro-X5FD Series 60" | Rated 80% by by c|net (Dec, 2011)
However, never fear...perhaps you may be put off by the fact that it's technically owned by Sharp now, but the Pioneer techs who originally made the best flat screens in the world have returned the Elite model to the showroom floor.

picture quality

If I had to pick one thing that stands out on the Elite, I would say the black levels.
Sharp Elite Pro-X5FD Series 60" | Rated 100% by by Mark-D (Oct, 2011)
Seen from off-angle the LW9800's black levels became washed out relatively quickly and blooming became much worse than when the image was seen from straight on.
LG LW9800 55" | Rated 76% by by c|net (Oct, 2011)
Our biggest complaint in this category was the LW9800's tendency toward blue in extremely dark areas, an issue that was more obvious on this set (thanks to its lighter black levels) than on the Sonys and even the Vizio.

If you have enough budget for a 3D TV, I would recommend that you get Sony. I grew up using Sony appliances (radio, TV, DVD player, PlayStation) and I never found anything (except for the wear us... View pasaway's recommendation
